It is only when you come to use watercolour paints like these that you realize why professional artists prefer them. Student grade paints seem dull and lifeless in comparision. Hanza Yellow and Mayan Orange are fantastic. These paints are expensive especially as they are only small 5ml tubes. But, the colours are more intense and so you need only a little of the paint. A tube will therefore last longer. This pallet has been chosen by one of the great watercolour painters, but he mostly paints urban landscapes. As someone who also likes to paint English rural landscapes I would like to have had an additional green, not just Veridian.

Daniel Smith are now my preferred watercolour paints. They bring a vibrancy and depth which suit my style of painting. This set provides a good range of colours which work well together when mixed or used with the Neutral Tint.

I was nervous about getting these because I bought the PRIMATEK set and was not impressed. I am happy to say that these are what I expected.

One of the tubes of paint in this set had already been used (Neutral Tint). It had been squeezed and contained less amount of paint, which for a 5 ml tube is quite significant. I only realised after I had opened a couple of the other colours, which made it impossible for me to return the set. This is far from satisfactory, as not only I got delivered a damaged product, but also Amazon didn't provide a link to send a complaint regarding this specific item (the link appears for other orders, just not for this one, at any point after delivery).

Before using Daniel Smith watercolors, I was using a budget student-grade set from my local crafts store. Let me tell you, the difference is like night and day when I applied the paint on the paper! The colors are vibrant, transparent, and smooth when dried. The tubes in this set are small (and absolutely pricey for the quantity), but the paints are so pigmented it really lives up to the value. This is a great brand! I would recommend this if you want results that impress, or are dipping your toes into professional grade watercolors.

Son tubos de 5mL. Cunden muchísimo, poca cantidad de producto da para lavados razonables. Son transparentes y brillantes. Se mezclan muy bien y se difunden en agua de una forma rápida y extensa. Es caro el producto, pero vale la pena.

I decided to get this 5 ml tubes set even if I would probably save more money in the long run if I had gotten the full size tubes instead. This set seemed to be a good price for ten 5ml tubes. They are small, but you get 10 colors to try. They are very very full, which is good, but be ready to pour some into your palette right as you open them because the moment they are uncapped the paint starts flowing out. Daniel Smith (DS) has been evaluated to be a leading brand for watercolor paints, and so far I prefer it to other European brands which start to fall short of quality recently but still hold soaring prices, compared to DS and Holbein, at least in my experience. DS in general is expensive, but it will be less costly in 15 ml tubes, and far more reasonably priced than almost all leading Euro brands (here in Canada). I have also bought the three primary color set and the three secondary color set that sell on Amazon which come in full size 15 ml tubes, and I'm happy with all DS paints I possess, including some that I have got at my local art supply store. They have unique properties.
