Better with the branded filter
I used a non brand last time and it was false economy. Plus lots of black bits floating in the water. Back to the right one and much happier with the quality.

They do the trick, not 'quite' as good as original, however.
These replacements are good. They fit the product perfectly. They seem to be of a good build quality. The only reason they are not a higher star rating is because they appear to all contain less carbon in the filter than the filter that came with our Cat Mate fountain. Therefore they will be weaker at removing taste and smell, and last a shorter time. They are good value for money, though, and can be opened and refilled if you have the materials; however it's just as easy to get new ones. Update; have since re-purchased these a few times. They seem to be by far the best value - quality for the fountain that we can find; so therefore I'm upping the review to 4 stars to reflect that I'm quite satisfied with this product. The filter material is string, the carbon works and stays "popping" for a long long time after the stated replacement duration, the build quality is good, they stay clipped together quite strongly.

Water filter unit
Brilliant water capacity, easy to clean, fitts water fountain via secondary cartridge, you have to remove the used filter then put the fresh one into the cartridge, then slot it in. No noise at all.

These filters fit the water fountain that my cats use, "Cat Mate." I change the water and wash the fountain every day, and I use a new filter every three weeks. I probably wouldn't need to clean the fountain every day because the filter works well, but I do; I want the best for my kitties.
