Good performance and quality for the price
I recently moved and wanted to buy a better cooking knife. I had 4 criteria I was looking for: Cost less than $100, made out of decent steel, a sheath, and made anywhere but China. This knife hits the first three, even costing substantially less than my set budget.I've used it quite a bit on various foods now and it performs very well. It has great weight and balance and is comfortable to use. The fit and finish of the knife are great. The sheath has a tiny bit of grip to keep it on, and slides on and off easily. I would say the steel holds an edge quite well, but I haven't really tested to see how fast it dulls since I do quick maintenance every 3 or 4 uses (using a water stone). As to the country of origin, I get that doing the manufacturing in China is a good way to keep costs down and the quality may not suffer, and ultimately it's my choice as a consumer whether to purchase products that originate there. That's why the knife keeps the full 5 stars. Maybe it's unrealistic, but If I had the option of paying 10-20 dollars more for the same knife made someplace else, I'd likely do it. I'm probably not your average customer, anyway. Thanks for reading.

Absolute pleasure to cut with these
I’ve been needing new kitchen knives for a while these checked all my boxes for the price. Incredible weight in your hand, extremely balanced, super sharp and they look beautiful on my knife rack. These are definitely something I would’ve used in a restaurant kitchen.

The first good knife I've owned
I'm not a knife expert by any stretch... Every knife I've owned before this is just a cheap kitchen knife I found at a random store for like $30-$50. Those knives weren't very sharp to begin with but quickly dulled to being pretty dangerous to even use. I was struggling to prep dinner and it just wasn't good.So I bought this knife and wow is it nice and sharp. Holding it is like Schroedinger's Blade. On the one hand it feels extremely dangerous to even hold because one false move and I'm slicing my hand open or my finger off... but on the other hand (the one not being sliced), it feels very solid and very balanced and it cuts things so effortlessly that it makes food prep WAY safer. Before I was having to really put pressure down to even cut an onion, now I'm gently sliding the blade right through everything like butter. So in terms of how effective this knife is... I'd say 100%.It feels great to hold. It has good weight to it. You can feel the quality just from holding it. Super easy to clean as well.My only concern with getting a fancy knife like this was maintenance... I have zero knowledge of keeping a knife sharp, or proper knife care, or anything... So I sort of "winged it" by getting a little simple knife sharpener off amazon that you just run the blade through a few times. I've used it a handful of times on the knife so far but honestly it didn't even need it. The blade is still sharp a couple months later of daily use. This is a no muss, no fuss, sharp as a razor knife that gets the job done. I'm super happy with it and glad I finally spent a bit more money on a quality kitchen knife. It makes chopping stuff fun.

The Last Knife You'll Ever Need
The media could not be loaded. UPDATE:This knife has withstood the test of time. I bought this knife in 2016 and it is still a daily workhorse in my kitchen. I only wish I had more Dalstrong knives. The Shogun series looks amazing. Would do anything to own a set but the knives are getting pricey - understandably so though. They are very well made. Stop looking. You can’t go wrong with Dalstrong! Hey look I made a rhyme! You’re welcome. The Dalstrong Gladiator chef knife cuts as good as it looks. If you are looking to upgrade your knife for a true kitchen workhorse, look no further. Here is a brief summary of my review. For more information and to see what this knife can truly do, check out my video review and pictures.LIKE:- Light as a feather, yet its sharpness allows for it to power through the toughest root vegetables with ease- Its ergonomic design reduces fatigue- Tall blade for ample knuckle clearance- Solid construction - full tang, triple riveted. Designed for durability- Better than my CutCo and Henckel Pro knives!- Amazing customer service! Dalstrong truly puts its customers first. Dalstrong's President took the time to personally answer my questions about the product. Try contacting Henckel or Cutco's customer support via email; I assure you their first response will not be from their President!DON'T LIKE:- Not stainless so if you buy this knife, take good care of it and it will take care of you.I hope you enjoyed this review as much as I enjoyed making it. If so, please let me know!-ReviewGuru

Perfection
I wanted to wait a while to give a review so I could use it for a few weeks first. I received my knife on June 6th.The knife came in a beautiful box, with a cute keychain inside, and a polishing cloth. The knife came in a Saya, which was just wonderful, fits perfectly (as it should!) After removing the saya and inspecting the knife, I was impressed with the look, it is a truly gorgeous knife. The wood is sublime in look and feel. The full tang adds wonderful heft, and it feels safe and well balanced in the hand. The most important aspect is how it cuts right? It is amazing, nice, clean cuts with NO drag. I was able to get 1/16th of an inch slices on everything I tried, from tomatoes and avocadoes, to sirloin roasts, raw and cooked for all.I am truly amazed by the quality, and highly recommend this knife for anyone who wants a knife that you can trust. The quality is worth at least double the price, the pride they take is amazing. My son, aspiring chef, is begging me for a full set of his own for when he graduates high school and goes to culinary school. I need to buy a full set for myself first! This is a buy it for life knife, I will be buying only their knives, I have no interest in any other brands now. They have a customer for life.
