Heavy Duty Adjustable Roller Mortice Door Catch/Latch 38mm - Satin Stainless Steel

When this product arrived I did wonder if it would be difficult to latch as the spring is very strong. However, with the right adjustments it's perfect, and creates a very positive latch that is easy to open and close. Very good value item that does the job excellently.

This is a good quality mortice catch with a nice firm positive action. The only negative thing I have noticed about it is that after a while the tension screw that controls the protrusion of the catch tends to slacken off, meaning you need to remove the catch again to adjust it. I might try a bit of threadlok on it if it happens again. But otherwise, I've had no problems with this catch and would recommend it.

Arrived swiftly and pleased with overall quality (originally). The catch arrived swiftly and I spent this afternoon removing the old mortice lock and filling the hole with a beautifully shaped piece of wood, remembering to leave enough space to fit this catch. All beautifully sanded down but when I came to fit it, I realised that the holes in the catch's face plate weren't bevelled to take the screws supplied - the holes were large and the screw heads small!! Upon further inspection, I noticed that the face plate consisted of only one piece of metal - not the two shown in the pic on the order page. Really frustrated about this as I've now had to contact the seller - hopefully for a replacement before I have to return the item - as I now have a porch open to the elements as I'm unable to refit the lock which was removed!! Update: the item was replaced in less than 24 hours. The seller's response to my email at around 5.00pm was immediate and I received a replacement by 9 the next morning. I have therefore updated my review. Second update: the catch is still functioning well after 10 months in a very windy front porch door. It has not slackened off; nothing has rusted; all is good.

Catch had gone on a 1920’s heavy kitchen door, difficult to find replacement spring and this heavy duty catch does the job perfectly of keeping the door closed!

Bought this to overcome handle problems with door. Fitted in to the old latch hole perfectly and adjustability allowed me to get correct tension on the door close. Thinking of changing all my doors to these as a lot better than a latch and handle.

Exactly as described. Fitting needs a slot to be created with drill and chisel. However, once fitted it provides a robust all-metal catch. Adjustment requires the catch to be taken out, but is very straightforward with just a single screw. I use this on a heavy internal garage door with a Briton closer, and would recommend it in that sort of application. There are probably better products available for very lightweight doors.

Well made but NOT easy to fit. Sharp wood chisels needed to recess both sides into the door & the door jamb. There's perfect aligning to achieve, too. Woodworking experience needed!
