Simple device, plastic construction, snap off metal blades. Great Price, mechanisms work fine, plastic joints are tight, blades are sharp, whether they remain that way will define the deal.

This cutter is great for cutting almost anything, but there's a problem. Because I use it a lot, the blade is starting to break easily. It's frustrating because I need it to last longer.

At some point late in life, I got the brilliant idea to keep a box cutter in my car! I schlep rather large Amazon boxes from my P.O. Box (I live in the middle of nowhere to which Amazon prime does not deliver) to my car, and then I must be a good citizen and break down the boxes before putting them into my condo’s recycling dumpster. Why schlep the box upstairs and then down again? I break down the boxes in my car and schlep up the individual pieces of Stuff (which is also much easier than hauling up a bulky box). When the inspiration came, I bought a fancier (and more expensive) box cutter on Amazon and it was a disaster: it actually kept falling apart on me. The last straw was when the knife part just slid out of the cutter and into the parking lot. These are PERFECT: all I need them for is to break down boxes. They don’t cut cardboard, they cut tape and occasionally hit a little cardboard. These are incredibly inexpensive but not cheaply made IMO for my purpose. They’re similar to the one I’ve been using for decades “upstairs.” There is little likelihood that I will ever need to slice a half-inch-thick piece of leather; however, if so, I do have a decades-old Exacto knife buried in one of my hardware boxes that will do the trick if these fail.

For the low cost of a dew bucks these r as expected.

My wife's gotten into sour dough bread baking. One of her friends suggested she get a lame to cut designs in the dough before putting it in the oven. Lame's are essentially a straight razor on a stick. In "trained' hands it may be safe, but having to use a straight razor by hand or keeping it in a drawer just didn't seem safe for anyone. I purchased the retractable cutter because it's "retractable" and my wife can easily handle the utility knife. And as the blade dulls with repeated use, the old portion can be snapped off leaving a fresh blade to cut with. For my wife and for new or even amateur bakers it's a good deal; and there are four of them.

These are probably not the most strongest but I wasn't expecting that. I just needed something that was sharp and would do the job cutting packages open and cutting painters tape. They work for small jobs around the house.

These work well and not bad for the price. We have one every where we unpack items now.

Good container to keep them in is included! Great colors!

I constantly use these to open packages. Have to be careful not to cut myself.
