Good value
Purchased to keep in stock as light bulbs tend to 'go' during winter months and I had just replaced two. Tested each one and they work so assume they will be of Philips usual good quality. They are Rapid Start, so come on almost instantly and give a warm white light rather than a glaring white. The actual bulb prongs, of which there are three, are approx. 6 cms long (2-1/4 ins) with the complete unit length being 12 cms (4-1/2 ins). I don't believe that any of these energy bulbs really last for 10 years (none of mine have), but they do last longer than the old standard type bulbs.

Really happy with them
Top notch product! Really happy with them. I was surprised with the amount of light that these give out! Changed two of my old light bulbs (a 60W and a 100W) and these are better than the 60W and only slightly dimmer than the 100W. Considering the fact that their electricity consumption is just over 10% of that of a 60W bulb and about 5% that of a 100W one, this is pretty impressive! The only down side (if you can call it that) is the fact that it takes them about 2-3 seconds to properly light up but that is no biggie for me. Highly recommended!

Sometimes it's worth paying that little bit extra for quality and reliability
Sometimes it's a false economy to buy cheap, it depends on the product and what requirements you have for it. I needed good quality reliable bulbs for our stairwells at work which have the lights on 10-12 hours per day. We'd had an annoying problem with one light enclosure which kept 'popping' bulbs on a weekly basis. We had the enclosure checked by an electrician who could not find a problem but due the age of the building and wiring installation suggested 2 courses of action: Either install a capacitive buffer to 'smooth out' the power at a cost of a over £100 or try a quality branded bulb instead of our usual no-brand bulbs from a wholesaler. We opted for the second course to see if it would make any difference so I went bulb huntin'! These Philips were very highly rated on Amazon and although twice the price of what we would normally pay it's a small price to pay for quality and reliability. We've had the Philips bulb in for almost a month and it's still fine so hopefully the problem is solved. As a happy side-effect this Philips is brighter than the 'cheapo' bulb it replaced even though both are rated at 11w. I agree with others that they are a tiny bit taller than old-fashioned 'bulb' shaped bulbs but no taller than the energy saving one of the same style it replaced.

Great quality
Needed a replacement for my bedroom light, however I was struggling to find any shops that actually sold this type of light bulb so decided to check amazon. Was easy to put it and whilst I've only had it for a few months so far I haven't had any problems with it. I will definitely be purchasing these again if I need more in future but not for awhile hopefully since I have two left and my last energy saving bulb(Whilst not a Philips one) lasted for a long time considering I use that light a lot.

Bright light, lasts well
I’ve just bought a couple of these bulbs to replace bulbs bought around 4 years ago. I have one in a hall light, used daily and left on overnight and the other in a table lamp, used daily throughout the year. This is the one that’s failed. It’s in use every day for a minimum of 5 hours. I haven’t done the maths, but it’s lasted for years and I think it’s good value. The bayonet fitting is easy to use, fits tight and the light warms up very quickly to full power. The light is bright and clean. Good enough to read by in the evening but not so bright it overpowers. These bulbs are much better than the early versions of a few years back. They light up quickly and last better. Very happy.

Some times it's worth paying extra as they last a long time.

Good light bulbs, but one was faulty.
One of the three bulbs I purchased was faulty. It had a slightly damaged contact point which blew the bulb and tripped the fuse switch. So I could only use two of the three purchased. Disappointing.
