Seagate Skyhawk 4TB Video Internal Hard Drive HDD – 3.5 Inch SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache for DVR NVR Security Camera System with Drive Health Management and in-House Rescue Services (ST4000VXZ16/016)

Worked as expected in my Reolink NVR camera system in order to increase the video storage capacity. The price is reasonable for the amount of storage. It has lasted about 6 months now with no issue and no loss of video data.

Went right in and is working fine.

Replaced my 2 TB hard drive in my Eufy NVR system with six combo PTZ and fixed S4 max cameras. This 16 TB hard drive was very easy to replace fit right in with four little screws and then plugged in the data and power cable. Had the NVR all hooked up with the ethernets, lan and power and ready to go in about 15 minutes. The 16 TB drive went through its formatting in a couple of minutes and then was fully up and running recording all motion video from all six cameras, very seamless. It is a touch louder than the Western Digital 2 TB drive that came with the system, but not unacceptable. All-in-all a nice large drive made exactly for this NVR system with AI and 512 MB cache and 6Gb/s transfer rate, for a very good price. Highly recommend !!!

Excellent replacement for Lorex Fusion NVR. My 3 hardwire cameras that records in 4K now shows right over a month of continuous recording where as the 2TB it came with only recorded 1 week's worth of footage. From amazon, it was sealed in plain manufacturer brown box with plain seagate label with product info and barcodes, inside was the disc drive in an electronic mylar bag. It is genuine Seagate product that registered on website with 5 year warranty. Had a DOM: 05 July 2025, I ordered this end of October as backorder and got in mid November 2025. 8TB surveillance has excellent capacity, compatible with Lorex NVR that allows Max 8TB storage. Fast loading and playback performance. And was formatted through lorex NVR after installing with ease. The price was right around 200$ which was a decent price in my opinion for a big drive compared to other brands.

Purchased to replace the old video 2TB HDD for a video 6TB HDD to gain more storage space on the NVR. Was easy to install and setup initially and all connections were easy to identify. Everything was working great as I had data from August 13, 2025, to October 4, 2025, but the new 6TB HDD only lasted 2 months and then would not read or write data. I tried to recover the data from the HDD but it will not even load when plugged into my PC.

The hard drive on my home security system which includes an Amcrest DVR for my cameras died. I had purchased a WD purple, and it started showing errors within the first hour, so I decided to try Seagate, and I have not been disappointed. Plugged it in and my system has been error free ever since. Could not recommend any higher. If you are looking for a replacement HHD grab a seagate you will not be disappointed.

After two failed fraudulent drives from the WD Purple line ordered from Amazon I finally found one that appears to be both legit and functioning. The first WD Purple I ordered showed 0 power on hours but clearly had been used previously. It was loud, clicked a lot and failed within two weeks. The replacement drive I ordered (That appeared to come from the "Western Digital Store") showed up and wasn't recognized by my system as a WD drive but rather an HGST drive...a model that was manufactured from 2014-2015. The drive had tool marks that had been painted over with black paint and the body also matched HGST drives from that era. You could even see sticker residue where something was removed and a WD Purple label was placed on it. The serial number was fake and also didn't match what SMART reported. WD had no record of either serial. This drive formatted immediately, showed up in new manufacturer packaging and the serial number checks out on the Seagate website. I've used several purple drives in the past with good results but it seems like Amazon has an issue with the resellers on this site so I would 100% avoid buying the WD line on here for now and go with this seagate drive instead.

This hard drive offers a lot of bang for your buck. Installation was simple and straightforward, and the amount of storage you get for the price is excellent. It runs fast—I’ve had no issues with performance, even when scrubbing through large video files, which can be demanding. For the most part, it's been a smooth experience. I’ve found it to be reliable and relatively quiet in my setup. That said, I’ve seen some reviews mentioning noise or early failures, so I’m keeping an eye on it. So far, I haven’t experienced those issues myself. If you're looking for a spacious and speedy drive without breaking the bank, this is a solid choice. Just be aware there may be some variability in long-term reliability.
