So safe and secure on Syracuse's slippery snow!
I am SO glad I ordered these a couple of months ago in anticipation of another Syracuse winter. I adopted a dog in June, and we do a lot of walking. Yesterday I just wore my snow boots (well, I wore clothes, too) and ended up slipping on some ice which was under a thin layer of snow, and doing a not too graceful hip plant. The good news was that it was only witnessed by one far off jogger (and my dog) - oh, and that I didn't break anything. Today I used my crampons for the first time, and what a difference! I felt completely safe and secure. You can really feel the crampons digging into the snow and ice. I also like that they are visible just by looking down at your boots. I had some years ago that fit on just the bottom of the sole, and twice lost one of them when out walking but wasn't aware of it until I got home. I am working on making sure these are pulled tight, as I can hear the metal jingling while I walk, and sort of feel like a mobile wind chime - but a not very melodious one.

Winter weather, I am ready!
I moved from sunny and warm Oklahoma to Chicago this year and quickly found out that ice is as prevalent here as it was at home during the winter. Although the roads are treated, sidewalks and stairs are often neglected. There's only so much ice melt can do when you have 2 dogs and live upstairs. Although I haven't fallen, I did choose to purchase these crampons to put on my size 9 SOREL snow boots. I will update in the near future about my efforts with them but so far I am in love. They go on easily, the extra strap is useful and easy to use. My only complaint is the lack of instructions that came with them. That said, if you have 10 minutes and google you can figure it out without too much issue. I hope for these to be a life-long thing for me now since I have been thrust into the learning process of having moved to a much colder state. At least I don't have to worry about going down icy stairs now.

Not strong enough for heavy usage
I've used other brands of microspikes, including cheap ones from amazon, with generally good results even with hundreds of miles of running in the mountains in the winter. These did not hold up and had several different failures within ~50 miles of total use. I check the spikes before use, and usually had to close a few chain links or bend back spikes on these. Eventually, one of the spikes broke off, then one of the plates broke at which point I retired them. They are much lighter gauge metal than they should be, even compared to others in the same price range, and it showed. When they were still holding together, they also slipped around the shoe more than others.

Slip and slide be damned!
Ok so I'm an avid hiker. You can't keep me inside on a nice day or even a cruddy day to be honest. Well, I moved to Alaska to take on the land of the midnight sun - what could go wrong? Ice! I vastly underestimated this slippery opponent. Let's just say before these cleats it was ice -5 and me - zero. I was sliding and stumbling more than a newborn fawn. My ego (and butt) bruised I came to Amazon looking for a break, before I actually had a break in my leg, and behold I found these. I ordered 2 pairs actually. I was about to hike to a glacier in Juneau with my girlfriend so I was trying to save both our bums. They fit over my hiking boot well. They are sturdy and you can reinforce them with a strap. We got to the glacier and without these we couldn't have hiked. It was all ice and patches of nothing but thick layers going up the mountain. Other's had to turn back but not us - nope, we trekked all the way up and I (against my girlfriends judgement) walked over a frozen waterfall. It was small and really frozen I assure you. Anyhow, these saved the day! I recommend taking them off once you get to non icy conditions b/c they will bend out some on concrete. I pulled it out with pliers but just a heads up. Great investment if you'll be treading over icy conditions.

Should have purchased these years ago!
We enjoy winter hiking. There were times or trails that we often found too dangerous to hike due to ice. We purchased these ice cleats this past fall and have used them extensively this winter. These things stick to the slipperiest, hardest ice surfaces that we have come across including smooth frozen lakes / streams. They are easy to slip onto a hiking boot. We do notice that they can get slightly uncomfortable on long hikes over hard ice surfaces - a small inconvenience for slip free hiking on any slippery surface.

Sturdy- safe on the ice- does what they are supposed to do
sturdy- fits my womens size 8.5 gym shoes and sz 9 boots! I feel so much safer walking my dog at night when its so icy out! I live in Lone tree colorado- these work great and they are mostly easy to put on and take off. what you would expect on putting crampons on your shoes! buying more for friends and family :)- UPDATE- we just had a major ice storm here in CO- took these out for a LONG walk and WOW these work amazing!!! They did not even clot with snow! and once I got to the store I slipped off the crampons with ease! I LOVE these!!!!

Great purchase
Bought for my husband for Christmas. He finally got to use them and loves them! Great traction and he said he slipped more the few steps in the driveway in his regular shoes than he did in these the whole day on the ice. A good value to see if buying an actual pair of cleat boots sometime is a good investment. Very accurate sizing on the listing.

Excellent for snow,ice and mud
I bought these because I am an avid trail runner. I run on some aggressive trails that in the winter can be hard pack snow or ice and then in the spring, lots of mud. These stay on my shoes securely were others have fallen off or did not provide any traction.I wear a size ten trail shoe with a thick sole and the extra large Ravifun crampons fit well.
