DK Eyewitness Brittany (Travel Guide) Paperback – May 16, 2017

My wife loves it as she is a French native of Normandy who lived in a small town called Yvetot during the WWII.

It's hard to be too harsh about this book. First of all, there are very few books solely about Brittany and this book gives a nice overview of the area, including the history of Brittany. The photographs were lovely and gave a nice feeling for Brittany as well as some of the towns sprinkled throughout the region. There were maps for each section of Brittany that were very helpful in orienting one to that area. I found myself going back to this book often, even while I was there.However, it did not give a lot of practical information that one looks for in guide books, and the maps were not useful if you were driving or looking for specific towns or villages. I arrived at a small town in Brittany from Paris and really wanted a map of France somewhere in the book, too. Some of the resources listed were limited, even in towns that had interesting smaller museums as well as several places to stay or places to eat. That being said, this was a much more useful book to read before the trip, in particular, than the Brittany & Normandy book by Lonely Planet and easier to navigate, so I was glad that I had purchased it.

This guide to Brittany is much like any other DK guide - great! I visited Quimper in Brittany many years ago for a month, and I wish I would have had this guide at the time. The quality of the discriptions and images for each town and region is top notch.

Excellent guide to the area with a succinct history, and detailed touring guide.

This had a spectacular product review but comes up short in multiple areas: localities, things to do, additional resources for activities and places to stay. Save your money
