I think this is a lighter flavor and better on a sandwich and was a good price. Surprisingly fast shipping with no damage.

After writing this, I investigated a little more, and I believe now that this strange foreign object is quite natural in wine vinegar, and is in fact "the mother of vinegar", and not toxic or harmful. Glad I did not throw it away!I am on my second bottle of this vinegar which I like very much up to today. As I was putting it back into the refrigerator after mixing my salad dressing, I suddenly noticed a dark foreign object at the bottom of the bottle. Also, the vinegar was a little cloudy, not as clear as it had been when I first started using it. I always keep it in the fridge from the time I open the new bottle. The dark "thing" is a mystery. It seems to have an uneven contour, hard to make out what it could possibly be. The overall shape seems round-ish, but with uneven edges. I guess I will have to throw away what remains in the bottle, I have used about half but now I don't think I want to use any more of it. Has anybody experienced anything similar with this wine vinegar?

This is a very good tasting red wine vinegar, my standard for dressing salad with olive oil. Not too harsh and not sweet (the rose balsamic made by Pompeian is sweet, so if you want that, use the rose instead.) The other vinegar I really like is the white wine vinegar which I even will substitute for rice wine vinegar in a pinch--both are mild and slightly sweet.I admit a fondness for Pompeian vinegar as the firm is local to us and I love to support a company that employs people in our own region. They have adapted to the growing interest in olive oils and gourmet vinegars, providing good products for grocery store distribution. If you live in an area that is more rural as I do, an and maybe less culinarily sophisticated, Pompeian is distributed to major grocery chains so is readily available.

I bought thsi red wine vinegar after watching a highly recommended review on a very popular cooking show.Tastes great.Better price than in the grocery store.Repeat purchases.
