Zebra Basmati Rice(Sela) - 10 lbs

High quality rice, indeed. This is the best rice I have tried in many, many years. Finally found my type of rice

With a popcorn like smell to it, this is my favorite rice. When I cook it, I cook some pure wild rice first (black wild rice from Minnesota farms), to the point of the wild rice being half cooked. Then I add the Zebra rice, and finish cooking both together. It is just heavenly for stir fry and Indian dishes. I always keep an extra bag of Zebra on hand. It is, of course, excellent by itself. Simple dal or bean dish over this rice is a perfect meal.

We have been buying, Naturally Aromatic Zebra Basmati Rice Extra Long Kernel for several years now. Quite inadvertently we recently bought Zebra Basmati Rice (Sela). There is a distinct flavor boost in the sela version of this rice. We have a rice cooker. After soaking the rice for ten minutes we added some salt and some olive oil. It cooked for twenty minutes and then we let it stand in the cooker for an additional five minutes. Wow, this is delicious rice. We recommend this to all foodies.

I bought this March 2, 2024. The Best Before date was December 2025. I went to use a cup of it November 17, 2024 and found it had all turned rancid. I had nearly a full bag that was well sealed. I would not buy this product again.

Best rice ever! Overpriced, I bought it at store at 13$.

This is a really good variety of basmati rice, with a wonderful nutty flavor. There's a marked difference between it and other, non-aged varieties, and a huge difference between aged basmati and regular rice. I've moved to Palm Springs, CA., where there is only one Asian grocery store, but one that carries primarily Filipino products, and no aged basmati. I buy the Elephant and Zebra brands, and was happy to see that I can get the Zebra online. Try to find one with free shipping, otherwise it's an expensive way to go.
