Fun for the kids!
This Japanese donut making kit is a fun way to get the kids involved in baking something delicious and new (for them!). The kit comes with everything you need aside from some salt, milk, baking powder and an egg. Instructions were fairly simple to follow along to, and the end results were incredibly tasty. My kids had a blast mixing the batter, taking turns piping into the mold, and making the glazes. I had to whip out their favorite sprinkles to make the donuts extra special for them. The strawberry glaze powder in the kit had to be our favorite flavor of the whole box. It smelled & tasted exactly like strawberries; almost like they took real dehydrated strawberries and ran them through a grinding mill to make the powder. I loved it. The silicone mold and the piping bag are washable and reusable, too, so we'll be using them to make more donuts using other recipes we have. Chef Morimoto hit the ball out of the park with this set! This kit is definitely a winner in our home, and I hope you consider it for yourself or as a gift to someone! Highly recommend it!

Decent donut, but you'll need extra ingredients.
Visually, these donuts looked great, very pretty. But what you can't see in the photo is that the donuts were not completely baked on the inside and I followed the recipe to the letter. I suppose every oven will vary but these were off quite a bit. I'll try a longer bake time on my second try, maybe adding another 5-10 minutes. The donuts tasted decent enough for baked donuts and the macha glaze was okay. This kit does not include everything you'll need to make a batch of donuts. Baking powder, butter, milk, egg, salt will be needed, and if you want toppings you'll have to supply your own. I don't keep baking powder on had so I had to go out and get some. The donut mold works well and is probably the most useful thing to come out of this kit. I don't think I would recommend this, the flavor is average, the kit requires you to have additional ingredients, and the baking time will vary based on different ovens. Not quite the easy all-in-one kit I was hoping for.

Great "healthy" donuts
These rice-flour donuts have the healthiest ingredients of any donuts I've ever had. It's just sweet rice flour, sugar, matcha, strawberry powder, and cocoa powder. That's it - no additives or anything else. So as far as the ingredients go, these donuts are excellent. These are mochi donuts, not regular donuts, so don't expect them to taste exactly like actual donuts. They are a bit chewier and less airy than normal donuts, but I actually like them. If you have ever had actual mochi, you will be familiar with the denser texture. The kit makes 18 donuts, and thankfully you are able to split it into 3 batches of 6 each. So you don't have to worry too much about messing up or making any mistakes. I also like that you can simply buy more rice flour and reuse the mold and make more mochi donuts anytime you want. All in all - a very fun and tasty family activity. Just don't expect traditional donuts.

Good Tasting - Horrible Pricing
$47 for this kit is too much. The ingredients it includes are cheap - some rice flour, some sugar and 3 frosting mix packets. Then there's the basic silicone mold, and a piping bag. You're going to need to supply a lot of other ingredients, like baking powder, salt, butter, sugar, egg and milk. The donuts themselves come together well enough. The texture is odd - it's not really a chewy mochi texture, but rather a leavened rice-cake. Not bad, but the flavor is pretty bland. The frosting mix packets make a glaze that is too thin, and there's not enough of it. The flavor is good, but there needs to be more.Again, for the price, this kit is not great. It's a good idea, but is worth more like $20-30 maybe, for the novelty.I ordered this August 2022, and is marked best by February 2023, so 6 months expiration from order - that is very short, as rice flour normally has a very long expiration date. Made in the USA (California).

Delicious
This is an adorable and giftable donut kit. I really like how it comes with powders for multiple flavors of frosting. They turned out really squishy and tasty.

Great Kid Activity, Tasty Donuts
This set comes with sweet rice flour, confectioners sugar, flavored powder for icing, a reusable piping bag, and a silicone mold. The instructions are easy to follow, and you only need to provide some basic pantry items to complete the recipes (eggs, baking powder, sugar...). All in all you can make 18 donuts, but with the instructions and the reusable items you only need to keep buying sweet rice flour and you can keep making as many donuts as you want. The donuts themselves were slightly sweet and weirdly filling--one can really be breakfast. The icing is a great kid activity, and they gobbled up the donuts afterward so the texture certainly didn't put them off. Overall this was a fun set and I'm looking forward to making more!

Fun Family Activity
We lived in Japan for 5 years and my kids LOVE mochi!!! I was so excited to see this mochi donut kit--two of my kids favorite things!! We love baking at my house and are always up to try something new. I made these with my 7 year old daughter and they were so easy to make and she basically did the whole thing by herself. The kit comes with basically everything you need. The instructions are well written and very clear and I like that it included measurements for the ingredients, so we can make this again and again. Some baking kits I have tried say "add the bag of flour", but they don't tell you how much flour is in there--this one tells you exactly how many cups, tsps, etc. you need for each ingredient. The donuts definitely don't taste like a traditional donut--they aren't nearly as sweet. However, we all liked them and are excited to make the other kinds--we only have used the strawberry topping. I think this is such a fun idea to try a global recipe and have fun as a family. It would make a great gift and we really enjoyed this a lot!!
