Q: What is the finishing compound needed for ?

I only used the paint itself because I only had to fill in a small scratch. I used a very fine paint brush wiped from the brush in the supplied container. I put a very small dab of paint in the scratch making sure not to over brush the scratch. As it dried it sank into the recess of the scratch. The next day meant another very light brushing. About six hours later meant another layer was applied. In total I think I put about six coats onto the dry previous coat. Once the coating reached the unscratched paint level I left it. The match was good as was the gloss. I used this method once on the wing of my blue car and once on the top box of my red Ducati. Both applications can be seen but they look much better than the scratch.

Q: Why do you ask the colour when you're going to use the car registration?

Seems to be a gimmick to convince you it will colour match your car when it doesn't.
