Comfortable, but NOT waterproof
I love Merrell shoes and own a lot of them. I love the way these boots look and fit (short heel, wide inner-foot bed and good grip on the outer soles for winter weather). My complaint with the Tetra Launch boots is that mine are NOT waterproof! It is so difficult to find women's boots that are actually made for winter weather AND look nice, so I was thrilled to find these. I've had them since February 2013, and they leak around the toes. I've tried weather-proofing them with Sno Seal, twice, but they still leak (and now they have a sticky texture and don't look quite as lovely as the Sno Seal kind of grunges them up). I had another woman tell me she has the same exact boots, and she loves hers, but they also leak. I still wear these boots, but now I know my feet will be wet.

Practical *and* attractive
I spent a lot of time searching for a comfortable, everyday, brown, winter-in-New-England, high and waterproof boot -- that was attractive. All in all, I pretty much found it in these. I need to walk up a big hill and then 22 stairs to get in my house -- while carrying a baby. I think these will be great go-to shoes for that. They're cute and clearly well made. They have excellent ankle support and a decent grip. They're very comfortable; I walked a couple of miles in them (hills and all) after owning then only a couple of days, with no blistered. I would have preferred a more hard-core sole for icy days, and they would look cooler if they were higher. But on my short (5'2") frame, they look OK. I don't think they would be so attractive if I were tall; they might land too close to mid-calf on a tall woman. I'd say these are 90% of what I was looking for, and I'm happy with them.

Beautiful boot...not very durable
I have had these about a year now. I love the design, fit and color/texture of the leather ( a little shiny, but also a little weathered). The button detail gets lots of lovely comments. Only bad thing is that the buttons fall off fairly easily (call the company and they will mail you some new buttons to snap on, or you can have a shoe repair shop do it...kind of a pain to keep up with). Also, just now, the sole of one of the boots is separating from the leather upper, so they are no longer waterproof...the water leaks right in to your sock. I expected a quality brand like Merrel to last longer than this. My last pair of boots were Keen and they lasted 3 years with no problems.

I love these boots
I just bought my second pair of these boots. I received my first pair as a gift three years ago and have worn them constantly ever since. I have worn them through winters in Montana and Utah, traveling through Europe for the last three summers, and everywhere in between. I have walked in them around towns, on cobbles, for over 8 hours and been comfortable. These boots have never failed me until a few weeks ago when the waterproofing finally died, but after three years of near constant wear, what do you expect. Aside from the waterproofing, they are still great and I wear them at least once a week. They are extremely comfortable. The thinsulate keeps them warm, but not too warm so I wore them year round. With a pair of smartwool socks they were fine below zero for walking to and from the bus. The traction is good for snow. And until recently my feet never got wet even if it poured rain all day while I was out walking around. These boots are a good compromise between practical and fashionable. I stay warm and dry and I get compliments on them all the time. They have worn well over the years. I think that 3 years of near constant wear attests to the durability of the boots. As to size, I wear a 39 (8/12 to 9) and bought these in a 9 so that I can wear them with smartwool socks and be comfortable. My calves are about average size and I am not skinny and they fit comfortably. I don't wear skinny jeans, so I don't know if you can wear your boots over skinny jeans. I wear them with tights most often or jeans. They come to a little above mid calf for me.People have complained of the zipper pull breaking or the buttons falling off, but I have never had those problems. For the sale price, buy a pair.

Great boot
I love everything about this boot. My best friend has a pair and I have been eyeing and wanting them for 2 years, I finally found them cheaper here on Amazon and had to get them!! Everything about them is perfect EXCEPT if you have large calves they are a tight fit!! I thought I was average as never having a problem with boots fitting before but these are snug unless you are wearing them with thin jeans or leggings. ( I am 5'8 size 9.5 shoe). They are also kind of short, but overall they feel great. I bought the Merrell Captiva High Waterproof and just got them in the mail today and actually like them a lot better. I am contemplating returning these ones....? :(My friend also told me her buttons fell off a lot also but she was able to save them and super glue them on.

The thing about the buttons falling off is all too true.
These boots held up amazingly well while slogging through the soggy, slushy streets of Germany and Paris over the Christmas holiday, but 2 of the leather-covered decorative riveted buttons all up the back came off. One was missing before I left, and another came off during the vacation. I ignored other reviewers' warnings about this flaw because it is this feature that makes them look a little more fashionable than wellies, but I will not make the same mistake again.

Bulky Fit with Tight Shaft
I was disappointed when these boots arrived. The color of the leather was beautiful but the fit was strange on me. The toe box was surprisingly wide compare to its width. In other words, the boot fit my feet lengthwise but was way too wide, I almost felt like I was wearing clown shoes. The shaft was really tight on me but the ankle part was loose. I have medium size calves and tried to order the next size up to compensate for this (since I planned to wear these with jeans) but it still did not work. Overall the boots are really nice, and I am sad that they did not fit as planned. I hope that others will have better luck with them.
