Magnet not strong enough
The magnet is not strong enough to hold most of my knives. I have a few knives with more square edges on the bolster, which this seems to be able to hold. But as I said, most of my knives are not like this, and they fall to the bottom plate, which damages the front of the knife and is dangerous. It can hold the knives upright if they are resting with their points on the metal bottom, but that isn't ideal, and is not what I bought. Would not recommend.

Don't buy
Looks great, but as others have said the magnets not only aren't strong enough, they don't even hold the knives vertically, they all end up slanted since the magnetism isn't even. Definitely one of my worst Amazon purchases. I should have listened to the other reviewers and not purchased this.

Average board,not great
I love the concept as we have impenetrable marble where a magnetic knife holder would go, but the magnetic footprint is limited to the top half of this board and not very strong. Works well as long as you place knives with that knowledge😕

My knives would not stay on the board - they kept falling off. One knife was an eight-inch bread knife and the other two were paring knives. They finally stayed on the board, but at a dramatic tilt. If I bumped into the board in the slightest, they would fall off. I am guessing lighter knives (hollow handle/lighter blade) would stay on?I am very surprised and disappointed. I really liked the idea that I did not have to mount a magnet to the wall. I am going to purchase a knife magnet bar and screw it onto the board, now. So sad.
