Glass Gem Cherokee Indian Corn Heirloom Premium Seed Packet + More

These are sooo much fun to grow, beautiful to look at all the great colors, AND you can actually EAT them, too!!!!! We enjoyed these SO much that we are growing more this Summer (2024). We live in Minnesota and we can grow these from seed in our garden - they grow pretty fast. Gorgeous in a Fall decoration.I would reccommend these seeds because they are so unique, beautiful and fun to grow - if you have a garden give them a try.

I've seen many reviews complaining of wispy, weak plants. You need to plant these seeds in nutrient rich soil or my recommendation and what I used was rapid rooters. I use them to germinate everything but my pot seeds (although they're amazing for cloning). They're nutrient rich rock wool that are excellent for root growth and aeration as well as available right here on Amazon for a very reasonable rate. My seeds were delivered the 3rd. I planted them on the 4th and today the 5th of June, I have thick beautiful sprouts in most of my rapid rooters. I start them in 3×12 planters that are perfectly shaped for rapid rooters eith humidity controlled lids and start them indoors in a temperature controlled tent. You can easily do this outdoors as well but mind the critters as they'll dig up and eat your seed if not properly protected. Make sure it's warm and nutrient rich soil. If not starting indoors they can be germinated outdoors on a very warm day preferably around 80°. I hope this helps and I look forward to doing more business with Sherwood Seeds!

I planted at least 6 of these seeds to start my corn crop indoors and not even one germinated for me. I planted a different variety

I received the seeds very quickly. I was so excited to plant this corn just to see if I could grow it! I had bought a great plant light & small grow boxes. I planted all of the corn seeds, heirloom tomatoes, hybrid cantalope & zucchini seeds. I thought if I'm having luck here maybe I could try to grow a garden?? But I want a raised bed garden & I had to purchase one, along with all of the soil & supplies, assemble it all, haul all of the dirt by 5 gallon buckets to the raised bed out in the back yard. I got ahead of myself & as the plants were beginning to grow too tall & fall over I had to transplant them into big pots because my raised bed was still not filled. The corn seeds roots had over-taken the small pots & when I tried to remove them carefully roots pulled & broke. I knew they would die. :( The only thing that survived is one of the heirloom tomatoes growing in it's pot. But I have picture memories of my babies. I will definitely buy another batch of these Glass Gem Cherokee Indian Corn.... because of the luck I'm having right now with my Peaches n Cream corn & hybrid cantalope growing. I want to see a new batch also grow to full term! Plant them in the ground or a bucket, not in a plastic starter seed pot terrarium like I did; unless it's the paper type that you could plant right into the ground.

The seed packet (of 20) only came with about 14 solid seeds and had a couple of broken ones. The pack quantity is 20. Many have germinated of the 14 but not all (i have a grow that is set up and temp/humidity controlled with 1000w KIND LED lights) that I grow all of my plants in regularly/consistently.I will update this review if I hear from the company, as I did reach out.

I had a high success rate with this packet. The color is outstanding. Growth was good, I got three corn per stalk.

I am placing this review almost 3 years after my purchase. I have grown crop after crop from my original pack of seeds, and I will continue to grow this amazing corn for years to come. It is dazzlingly beautiful. The plants are low growing and sturdy so it is perfect for windswept areas. It grows well even is chilly wet summers, but it is so robust that I suppose it would do well in arid climates too. I dry it and grind it into polenta with an ordinary coffee grinder. The polenta is sweet and nutty and the best Ive ever had. It also makes sweet nutty flavoursome popcorn successfully in an air popper (less so in a pan). It is, however, less fluffy than commercial popcorn and a tad tougher. If you like gardening, definitely try this amazing corn!!
