Worth it
Terrific rice really enjoyed it so much. Good rice has mild flavor that is so enjoyable. Bought to try and make some sushi but good for things like onigiri also. Would recommend if you want to up your rice meals.

Good American sushi rice with firmer exterior texture
I did a comparison between newly purchased Kagayaki Select, Tamanishiki Super Premium, and Tamaki Gold. All rice was measured, rinsed until clear-ish, dried for 30 min, soaked for 1 hour. I cooked the rice using reverse osmosis water (with 4 other carbon & mechanical filters). I cooked the rice in a $400 Zojirushi rice cooker using the "sushi" setting. The cooker is extremely consistent and uses induction to ensure even heating, and pressure to ensure consistent absorption of water. I tried to detect a texture or flavor difference between the 3 brands of rice. The Tamaki Gold seemed to have a slightly firmer exterior than the others (although the interior of the grain was soft like the others). The Kagayaki had almost no dust/starch that needed to be rinsed/scrubbed away. Unfortunately, I couldn't tell any difference in flavor between the 3 brands. Based on this, I would suggest the Tamaki for people having trouble with mushy rice or people who are new to making nigiri. If you hate rinsing, I would suggest Kagayaki. Otherwise, I would suggest the freshest or cheaper of the 3 at time of purchase. I would like to see if anyone else has done a comparison between sushi rices, cooked within a couple of hours of each other - interested to see what results others have had in a head-to-head comparison. The resealable zip top bag was a bonus for the Tamaki that the other 2 didn't have, but the other 2 came with handles.
