Buy Night Sky: A Field Guide to the Constellations on desertcart.com ✓ FREE SHIPPING on qualified orders Review: Easy to use, knowledgeable little book! - This is a beautiful little field guide, perfect for stargazing. After years of struggling with those fiddly round sky maps and a personal distaste for AR phone apps, this book is everything one could possibly want in full color. I have a degree in astronomy and have been hosting star parties for years; how could I have gone so long without this?! The format: it is mainly broken into four sections, one for each season, and goes into the visible constellations within each based on how easily they can be identified. Different guides are provided to help you locate each one (from a general map of the sky, to more precise directions and altitude per season) and, cherry on top, many are accompanied with fun facts or a bit of history. The book itself: built VERY sturdy. I am rough with my paperbacks but the binding and spine stays strong. My only complaint is about the novelty card light; the way it's pressed inside the back cover bends the book uncomfortably- I ended up removing it after a night. Review: Gift - This is a great resource for amateurs.

Brilliant
Such a brilliant book. I had a fair share of books on constellations and could never retain the information and figure out on the real night sky what I am seeing. This book explains what are the major constellations or stars one should find in the heavily light polluted areas and darker conditions, and throughout different seasons. The book is divided by seasons and each season is divided by the easiness of finding certain constellations (easy, moderate, hard). So you can master easy to find constellations first, and then move on one that are harder to find. The book also has a red flashlight (a must have so your eyes can stay adjusted to the darkness). Overall, this book has the most accessible information on the constellations that I have encountered.

Good but small…
The book is great… it’s so small though I have to wear magnifiers to read it… but it has a lot of information… no way I could reference it outside at night… but it does have a lot of great stuff to read

outstanding book for constellation identification
Outstanding book for a beginner (and more advanced people too) attempting to learn the constellations. By arranging the constellations by season and also in order of difficulty of identifying, the author has made it very easy for a novice to improve his/her skills. The small size makes it convenient to take out in the field. For those wanted more scientific information, they could easily combine this book with the DK book The Practical Astronomer by Will Gater and Anton Vamplew which would probably give the average person all the technical astronomy knowledge they want. There is also a lot of additional supplementary information in the back which makes the book that much more valuable. I wish I had had this book when I first started learning constellations. It would have made the job much simpler. This is the best book I have read for the purpose (and I have read a number) and if there were a rating above 5 I would use it. .

A great book every amateur stargazer should have
This is a great little book! Fits in your pocket, super easy to use. When I ordered it, I didn't even notice it comes with a little flashlight. That's a nice bonus! I would recommend this book to anyone. If you're new to astronomy, this book will be a great help to you. Experienced backyard astronomers will enjoy it as well, and you can hand it to friends and family so they can enjoy using it while you're setting up the next observation.

This book is just the right size for sitting out and learning the constellations! Everything you need to know on a few pages for each one. Love this book!

Content of the book may be good but font is too small to read even in daylight. How will this be readable with a torch under night sky I can't fathom.

Ya lo he comprado varias veces y lo termino por regalar siempre pues me gusta compartirlo. Es sencillo de entender y me gustan las historias de la mitologia asociadas a cada constelación!

I live in a small town, and my home is across from a large open field so the stars at night are uninterrupted by electric lights. This book is small so it's easy to carry, and the included flashlight is great. I highly recommend it.
