Prairie Dogs quality went down.
Sadly, the quality of prairie dog products have gone down. I’m not sure if it has anything to do with them going wholesale but previously when they were an unknown company their product standards were much higher.

Good price and reasonably consistent sizing
There are quite a few offerings for bully sticks on Amazon. I've dabbled with a few different brands on Amazon as well as my local pet store. The advantage of my local store is that I can pick through the bin and get ones which are reasonably sized. However, at about $2.70 a pop (for 6" bully), it's pricey for a couple of Vizslas that will greedily devour them in 5-10 minutes. Admittedly the bullies are a good size, so perhaps that warrants the price. As far as ordering through Amazon, I've gotten the cheaper bulk ones which my dogs would not touch. I've gotten the expensive grass fed ones, but then found the sizes pretty variable. Far too many of them were super thin. The ravenous ones would finish it in way less than 5 minutes. At this point, I've settled on Prairie Dog brand. They come out to about $1.60 per. And the size is generally consistent. I may get 1 or 2 in the bag that are thin. But I've also had bags where none have been skinny. So in general, I think they do a good job in ensuring you don't end up with too many dinky ones.My biggest "complaint" is I wish they came in an even amount so I wouldn't have to arbitrarily pick which dog gets the last one (in the case there isn't another bag around). The dogs have consistently enjoyed these (they get these or beef tendon every day), so the 5 star rating is really from them. Woof!

However the scent is better than most
Although they say they are Odor free ... they are not. However the scent is better than most. I went thru quite a few before I found one with an odor I didn't mind. This one is just fine! My dog loves these and we have purchased quite a few packs in the past year. One thing I noticed on the past 4 packages that I am not to happy with... is they are much smaller (thinner) then they once were. MUCH THINNER...These are not cheep. I am hoping the size issue is taken care of. Other than the current size change (which is why 4 stars instead of 5) the chew sticks are a favorite.

Odor free? No! Very stinky!
Definitely not odor free. Much worse than some other brands I bought. Size wise it is good and does last reasonable time.

The best bully sticks
These are simply the best bully sticks. This brand actually delivers on being odor free. Somehow the dogs can smell them and know they are good, but to the human nose they have no odor. These bully sticks are not your average size sticks, they are of a very good size and will last your dog a while. We give these to our puppies for 1-3 hours at a time when we need them to entertain them while getting things done. They absolutely love them and are sad when we take them away. If given in this manner the sticks can last days or weeks. As an added bonus amazon has a great price on these. If you go ahead and pony up and buy the 12 count, they are $40 or roughly $3.30 each. Our local pet store sells them for much closer to $8, so this is a great deal! I would highly recommend these!

SOLID product!
These are the best bully sticks I've found so far on Amazon and they were out when I went to reorder (the 25 count) and I took a risk and ordered from a different company. I chose... poorly. As soon as we get through the crappy bully sticks from the other company, we won't stray from this brand again! In the photo, the 2 bully sticks with circles are Prairie Dog bully sticks and the other bully sticks are from the other brand. 25 bully stick originally fit in that bag. There was plenty of room to spare in the bag with the 50 sticks from the other brand.

Avid Prairie dog purchaser, but I must of received a bad batch....
I have been using Prairie Dog Bully sticks for the last 4 years. My dog loves them. She can detect we’ve bought them for her the second we enter the house. So when I say I have never encountered such a smell in any of the probably 100s prairie dog bully sticks I’ve used, Believe me. If you’ve ever smelled rancid salmon which has strong ammonia type smell. Well it was that X100th power. My dog wouldn’t even come near any of them. I usually purchase them off chewy or Petco but they no longer carry them in packs. So when I found them on Amazon I gave them a try. If yours package smells like mine did & it’s your first time using them give another package a try. They are odor free. They might have a little smell after the dog begins to chew them but certainly not while sealed.

One bad apple? Or more?
Overall I have previously loved this product and have purchased packs of these bully sticks before. However, the last pack I received had a bully stick in it that I think was bad. It smelled soooo horrible that I was literally gagging walking into the room. I had to throw it away, wash everything it touched, including my puppy. I’ve bougjt hundreds of bully sticks and by far this one was the worst I ever smelled. Keep in mind, there was only 1 in the pack that seemed to smell like this. Up until we gave my puppy this one, the others seemed okay. After that one though, I threw away the entire package. I’d like to give it another try ordering on Amazon but will be cautious. Hopefully it’s just one “bad apple” amongst the others. We shall see, I’ll update my post after I try the next pack.
