Superb 5.1 mix
Took me a while to appreciate this album when I first got it on vinyl. This release takes it to another level.

Not the uk version
Great blu ray audio BUT not a pal (uk) but an ntsc which was not mentioned when ordering. When doing the white noise speaker test & voice speaker test the rears are mentioned but the white noise still only comes out of the front speakers but when the DTS version of the disc is played you get the full 5.1 surround. The disc says made in japan but the case has made in germany on it.But the most annoying thing of all the price dropped by £2 the day after release. Not pleased at all.Since writting the original revue i have fiddled about with the settings of my 4k blu ray player and have now got the white noise & voice speaker tester working ok.And have added 1 more star. But still annoyed the price was dropped on the day of release and nowhere in the description NTSC was mentioned.

Superb multi-channel mix
James Guthrie, along with few others like Steven Wilson, understand how to mix in multi-channel sound, rather than just disappointing front centred sound with a wash of vague sound as ‘ambience’ (some recent post Beatles mixes). This mix has discrete instruments all over the listening area, sometimes moving them around and is not frightened to put major ones in the rears that are constantly engaged, save for the brief bookend tracks. The surround mix is superb with completely immersive sound that allows the listener to listen to the album anew and brings it to life even more than the stereo mixes allow. The sound quality is also very good. One flaw is the section on "The Lord is My Shepherd" on "Sheep" that is mixed far too low to be barely audible. Comparing the original and new stereo mixes reveals a significant sound improvement too, especially in the bottom end, with much richer sound and better stereo imagery. The packaging is not of the same quality: difficult to remove the disc and I don’t like the new front cover art at all: it would have looked much better if they had used the tour logo of the three animals that's used inside, or stuck with the original great cover.

New life in the old dog
This is an astonishing remix of an already great album.Pigs (Three diff kinds) is a real stand out for me. The audio is so much sharper and punchier than my old CD. You can feel Gilmour, Waters, Wright and Mason pulling together at breath taking speed, with the almost inhuman precision of the tight group we've forgotten they were. Not sure how much 5.1 adds, but the experience is immersive. Carried away on a reinvigorated wave of rhythm and very relevant political comment. The images of Battersea are on screen throughout the album, with different visual effects and fades with each track. Big improvement over TER. Captivating.I'd love to know where the menu ambient track came from. It has snippets of Sheep but also send t to draw in other Floyd creations, reminiscent of Obscured by Clouds and a very strong 70s vibe.My only gripe, and it's a minor one, is that the packaging seems a bit cheap. Impossible to get the disk out without fingering the sensitive side of the disk.If you've never experienced Animals, now is definitely the time.

Not as good as the Dark Side of the Moon SACD
I’m mainly listen to music in 2-channel but occasionally listen to some of my favourite albums in multi-channel (those that are available). The main issue with multi channel mixes is the balance between each channel. In this version of Animals, there’s a bit too much on the rears and hardly any centre - the mix relies on the front stereo pair to deliver vocals. The sound is also quite muffled in places and there is a lack of detail and dynamics - it’s just not engaging IMHO.Having listened to the whole album, I decided to put the Dark Side SACD on - just in case my ears were having a bad day. OMG! What a difference - clarity, detail dynamics, scale and engagement - the sound is holographic and still delivers those ‘hairs standing up on the back of your neck’ moments. The Wish You Were Here SACD is also much better sonically than the Animals Blu-ray.It’s bewildering to me that the technical wizards, producers and mixers can’t replicate this across a catalog for an artist like Floyd whose albums are flawless in their mix and production.Good effort, but not quite there.

Great
It's Pink Floyd and it's Blu-Ray Audio so what we have here is Pink Floyd on Blu-Ray Audio, if your a Floyd fan then no further explanation is needed

Awesome remix and uncompressed audio settings.
The media could not be loaded. Always been a 5:1 DTS man, and animals is a favourite of mine, so this was a no brainer. The DTS mixes are great, but the uncompressed audio has blown me away totally. Stunned by the clarity it creates, its like hearing an orchestra where you can hear every instrument at once. The new remixes have brought a new life to the album, like polishing up some old silver. Makes you realise that something was probably lost in the mix the first time round. The packaging is a bit disappointing, but that's only because the Floyd normally spoil us with such things. I am really pleased with this, I thought it would be good, but it's so much better than I could have hoped. Gotta now dig out my MTLoR DVD and look to see if they have uncompressed audio too :-)
