CayinRU6 USB DAC Headphone Amplifier

Been chasing audiophile nirvana for decades. I'm 65 and just found it for 2nd time. 1st time was wanting speakers that made music emotional. So I bought Rega 3 turntable with exact cartridge. Bought Topping A90 Discrete which I used as preamp. Bought SMSL SU-9n DAC (without crap MQA to interfere). I then wanted Active powered speakers as they run rings around passive speakers so bought the superb Acoustic Energy AE1 Active - WOW - better than any set-up I have ever heard. Beats 8k+ passive (see British Audiophile on YouTube). OK so I was more than satisfied when sitting on sofa listening to my dogs Boll__ks setup but what about when I was washing-up, doing laundry or out shopping, walking the dog? Well I had bought the little Hiby R3Pro Sabre years ago when I first adventured into DAP's. Then the original Hiby R5 DAP with Seeds 2 IEM. These were OK'ish but not what I wanted so then I bought original Ikko OH10 IEM (very good for price, heard IEM's 3-4 times price but weren't as good). Also bought Sennheiser HD 660s that were just ok (until now - mindblowingly brilliant). So I guessed I was never gonna find a portable sound that was as good as my stationary sound in living room. Thought I'd try a new IEM so I went a bit up the price ladder - Thieaudio prestige Ltd out of my price range so tried Thieaudio Oracle MK2. Are great but still not at level I want. Thought I'd give it one more try so after research I chose Cayin RU6 Descret R2R. Now I've seen audio reviewer Zeos say he has been crying at sound and lost any idea of the time. Well, after trying my oracle's with my R5 and the Cayin RU6 I am there - crying like a baby - even listening to tracks I used to think we're crap, loving old tracks all over again like new. Just for a laugh thought I'd try my massive HD660S with my tiny little R3 and tiny Cayin RU6. Started laughing as it all worked. Not only did it work but my Sennheiser'have never sounded so good - and there I was crying again -emotional but with super happy tears. Found a portable Nirvana at last and 9 hours gone by in minutes. I can die happy and content now. ADVICE don't listen to these audiophiles and there BS. Experiment and research. Try stuff out at shops and if you buy and it's crap, send it back. Change Cayin usb C to usb C cable to better one I bought NIMASO on Amazon. I just wish you were all here listening to this because if you were you would be smiling with tears flowing - just so beautiful and I am so very happy - love life again, no longer alone and lonely as I have all these artists and musicians with me and I mean right here in my room - so real so moving. Wish you all good luck chasing your Nirvana. Be patient - I never minded waiting 6, 12, 18, or even over 24 months while I went without and saved for audio equipment. Has taken me many, many years to get here. Trying out IEM's, overs and speakers in showrooms buying and returning junk that didn't meet manufacturers hype (BS). Don't need to buy anything now other than the odd CD or vinyl now and then. So happy my cheeks hurt and am still tearful- can't believe what's happened. Cayin RU6 cleaned spotlessly and sorted the instruments and vocals by relocating them to where you can hear them individually and in more detail - prefer NOS setting. Little Hiby R3 still got 43%battery driving my HD660S, Cayin on high gain, very loud, for over 5 hours of non stop musical heaven. My singer and musician friends and I are now going to enjoy some tunes dancing and singing in the kitchen, so goodbye, stay patient and I wish you success 🙏.

The build quality of the Dac itself is really prime. The sound quality beats any other dac at this form factor, the r2r is really unique for this size and it produces the most natural sounding audio which just livens up the audio and makes you very much engaged with the music plus it gives new life to your headphone. I feel like i am listening to my library for the first time amazing lil dac

Very good dongle DAC and one that is in a market of its own.

Supplied USB cable induces noise, replaced with a different usb cable resulted in no noise.The DAC is exceptional when comparing to the ES100 mk2. Greater soundstage, instrument separation and clarity. No problem driving akg 710, forget the model but use it for my daily moondrop blessing 2 dusk iem.Very happy, still prefer it over a btr5 I bought, which is still better than the es100 mk2.
