Truly A Wonder
Not bad. As far as special collections are concerned this was a real treat.Movie Review. This animated movie is a long time coming. With DC's Animated movies making their rounds with their most favored heroes in Superman and Batman, the rest of the Justice League follows but very few get their shot of having their own separate film. And lets face it, Wonder Woman is more than deserving of her own animated movie. This story is mostly an adaptation of Wonder Woman's origin story but its also slightly skewed for the company's own take on the story. Movies can't be word for word adaptations of their original literary form, or at least that's what film companies believe.Ares is the villain of the story who has been imprisoned after bringing war to the Amazons. With the Amazons victorious against Ares, they earn sanctuary from the evils of the world and live the rest of their lives in peace on the Paradise Isle of Themyscira. But Ares is set free and one of their best must stop him. That someone is the princess of Themiscyra, Diana. Diana who becomes Wonder Woman. Its not that bad. But it changes a lot for what does remain untouched. In the comics it was Hercules who ravaged the Amazons not Ares. Artemis led a tribe of Amazons separate from Themiscyra known as the Bana-Mighdall. Steve Trevor was an honorable man and not the creep that he's depicted. Diana in this movie is also too fierce for her own good.Still there are plenty of good things in this movie. Nicely done art. Love Nathan Fillion as Steve Trevor and Virginia Madsen makes a great Hippolyta. I prefer Susan Eisenberg as Wonder Woman instead of Keri Russell though. I do like how they have the Contest and Etta Candy. Not bad but could have been better. DGraphic Novel Review. With the Post-Crisis era in full swing, DC Comics relaunches Wonder Woman for the late 1980s with George Perez's new origin story. I must say I absolutely love the artwork. Supremely detailed and realistic. I do enjoy how well done the imagery is drawn. You don't even need bubbles of dialogue to tell you what is going on. But there is dialogue, lots of it too. So wordy to the point of boredom. Still there is plenty of good stuff. From the first wronged woman to the Gods of Hellenism, the creation of the Amazons and their violation. Ares' setup to become the master of the world to the seclusion of Paradise Island leading up to Steve Trevor's crash on Themiscyra is well done. My problems with this series is that Diana doesn't get to be Diana Prince. I also dislike how strangely Ares is defeated. Still nice tease at the end with Barbara Minerva. A bit flawed but still good. B-Nice collection. C

Great movie! I'm a huge comic book movie fan
Great movie! I'm a huge comic book movie fan, and I'm one of the few people who go to see them multiple times in the theaters. I knew I would purchase this movie when it came out. When I saw the movie available from Vida, I was a little concerned because of the great deal, but I received it and it better than expected (came with a bonus features disc!!!). I'll be more than happy to be buy from this seller again! Thanks!!!

Wonderful
I read the comic book version of the origin story many versions. I even seen the TV show of Wonder Woman. Even the Justice League version of her. This is the best to-date, they took the best things I like her mother is ruthless, the invisible jet the fixed by making it invisible when the hood is closed. They allowed the Amazons to actually kill monsters behead them even. They are fighters truly in the sense of the word. I thought they sort of rushed some parts but it is not long enough I think it was like 90 mins. The Fire-Fly actor did a great job as did Keri but they gave all the zinger comments to Steve Trever.Still liked it better than every justice league movie other than the one with the two earths that has owl man in it that is pretty good and maybe batman Mr Freeze. I just like the comic book version of the few moments of Mr Freeze in total love of his wife, it was so well done for such a short story in batman made Arnold look foolish. But this wonder woman was better than all the super man movies including doomsday, batman vs superman, other superman movies, green lantern all are mediocre like I was watching a Justice League episode. This is PG-13 the be-headings, neck snapping, shots to the head, swear words, adult subjects may not be for the very small kids but it's great for rest of us. Hope to see more like it have not seen a cartoon from DC as violent even live action like Dare Devil, Electra, extra. That is another reason why I like this. No pandering to evil be realistic that never works, audiences are sick of that IMO, they want the bad guys to get what they deserve.

DC scores a winner
I have purchased a number of animated films from both DC and Marvel and I have to say that this one is probably the top of the heap. The story is solid and at 74 minutes, the movie doesn't feel like it is too long. Basically an origin story, the movie focuses on Wonder Woman as a teen before she takes on the red, gold and blue. Basic story: Steve Trevor crashes on Themyscira and one of the Amazons has to take him back to the real world so a contest is held to find the most worthy and Diana wins, however as the contest is being held Ares (the God of War) escapes from the Amazons so Diana has to both take back Steve Trevor and recapture Ares. It is refreshing that DC put out a film without Superman or Batman and I applaud the effort. There is quite a bit tossed in regarding female equality including a rather humorous exchange between Diana and a young girl as Diana teaches her sword fighting. The extras are fair with the ones on the first disc being repeats of previews of other DC releases that show up on a bunch of the other DC releases. The second disc has 2 pretty detailed documentaries on Wonder Woman with various artists, writers and directors input. If you find this at a fair price like I did pick it up....you won't be sorry.

Picks up after first 20minutes with great humour and action
No Spoilers. After an epic battle against Ares the Amazons take him prisoner and retreat from the world to their invisible island to live in isolation. Pilot Steve Trevor crashes on the island, Ares escapes, Wonder Woman leaves the island for the first time to take Steve home and stop Ares. Animation isn’t perfect, pacing issues, blood and gore clearly cut out all made me think in the first 20minutes that I wouldn’t enjoy this. But then it really picks up thanks to the excellent voice acting and much improved pace (you could condense first 20mins into 10 very easily and it’s only 70mins long so it would have a huge effect). Nathan Fillion is an amazing Steve Trevor and his flirty confidence is either well written or fantastically improvised! Keri Russell is a great Wonder Woman and then there is Virginia Madsen, Rosario Dawson, Alfred Molina, Oliver Platt and there all great. The humour is what makes this stand out (though the epic climax is pretty awesome too) and it’s Definitely Worth Watching. There is plenty of action and innuendo but if your kid can handle Star Wars then they can handle this.
