Q: How's the wifi range - i currently have a bt smarthub2 but still have wifi dead spots around the house, is this likely to have better wifi range?

I use broadband's hub as a modem and connect to rt6600ax and has set up mesh routers to tackle the dead spot, it also has more security control than hub. If compares with Hub, Rt6600ax has triple bands, should be better than hub because of wifi6. If you want wifi transmittion power, I would say they are almost the same.

Q: Does this router provide full speed when connected to gigabit fibre that uses pppoe?

I am on BT FTTP in the UK and get around 1 gig download using this router. This of course will have dependencies, if you use wireless your device needs to be capable of such speeds over wifi (also other usual factors such as distance from the router and avoidance of thick walls). If using a cable and going through switches they also need to be capable.

I have talktalk and it connected fine with the settings on auto. As for the router itself it's fantastic. I've set up a network for users and one for IoT devices. I have a guest network and have profiles for the kids to monitor their time online. I even have a schedule so they don't sit on their devices all through the night. One negative is the 5ghz doesn't stretch very far. I have thick walls and it will switch to 2.4ghz if I'm not in the same room Overall though I'm very happy with it.
