Like a vacation for your face
Wow, wow, wow! Like a vacation for your face.Best facial cold pack I have tried to date. It is flexible when frozen. The plastic covering is heavy duty and not likely to crack or leak (big problem with other masks). You can move the beads to any place in the mask, there are no blocked areas that will not get cold (frequent issue with other masks). When it is fully frozen, you can put it on your skin without getting frostbite. It stays cold 15-20 mins. The gel beads are superior to plain solid gel, this is why it retains flexibility when frozen. Retains the cold much longer than clay beads do (which I prefer for heat). This mask covers the entire face, even on my husband whose face is fairly large. Elastic and velcro bands that hold it on your head are generous in width and length, actually keeps it secure. Downside of the velcro is that is is VERY STRONG and can tangle in your hair if you use the open ends to adjust it in the middle behind your head. Therefore you can opt to either remove the straps and not use them, or you can make sure that you keep the sticky end of the velcro (about 3 inches long) covered by the other strap, and only adjust the mask using the end of the strap that is connected to the mask by your temple where you are less likely to snag your hair.I do not use plastic gels packs as hot packs, so I canʻt comment on how these perform for heat. Plastic gel packs are much more likely to rupture when heated, they get hot spots and can easily burn you. All plastics are fat soluble (they are made from oil/petroleum) and because of this when you heat them then lay them on your skin, plastic molecules leach out of the pack and into your skin, ultimately entering your blood stream. Since the human body did not evolve to consume plastic (we donʻt have the necessary enzymes), plastics we are exposed to in the modern world are essentially toxins and poisonous. Studies show that Americans pee out immense amounts of plastic molecules every day, and some of these compounds have been found to promote disease. A gel pack that is frozen is more inert and much less likely to leach out plastic molecules. If you want a hot pack, chose a clay bead or a grain bag style hot pack, your body will thank you.It does smell mildly of plastic when it is new. I wash it with soap and warm water after every use to remove bacteria and skin cells. This seems to have removed the plastic smell after a few washes. I would guess it smells more like plastic when heated, like I said we have not heated it so I am not sure if this is true. If plastic smell is a deal breaker for you or you need a hot pack, try a clay bead or grain bag hot pack with a fabric cover instead. The Vivi Relax-a-Back clay bead scarf is a good product, and large enough to wrap around the face (or neck). However it is not shaped like your face (I donʻt know of a clay bead face mask on Amazon -- if anyone finds one, please let me know). And remember that clay beads and grain bags do not get as cold or stay cold as long as the gels, so Iʻm recommending this option if you want a hot pack.Speaking from experience, I would say donʻt waste your money on other brands. This is the best face mask on Amazon. It deserves more than five stars.

Perfect for me
This product is perfect. I am 5'7'' female and it fits me perfectly. The velcro doesn't rip out my hair and it stays cool for the 30 minutes I need. Plus I can wear it around and scare my family. My husband says I have my next halloween mask and I scared my son this morning when I went in to wake him up. I have a lot of toxicity from Autoimmune and I have to take steriod because my adrenals don't work anymore. This mask takes down the swelling and it lasts all day. It allows the blood to circulate in my face and get out the toxins that make me swell. I love this product and probably will get another or two so I have extras in case I can't find more. Much better than an ice pack. If it gets too cold get a thin cloth and put it between you and the mask. I have noticed an improvement in my skin. It seems to be reducing pore size and prevent breakouts. I love, love, love it.

This face mask sells for $24 at my local health food store. I got it delivered free of charge on Prime for about $16.00. It can be heated in the microwave, or cooled in the refrigerator. Here in California it is such a wonderful and relaxing feeling to cool off the face when the weather gets hot. I’ve also known of the mask too sometimes help for migraine headaches. I have only used this mask for its warming effect, and it is very effective. My fairly new high powered microwave took about thirty-five seconds to heat all of the little beads of liquid. They warmed just a bit unevenly, however the mask is made as to be able to move around the warmest ones to make the heating more even. Lasting about 8 minutes, the warmth opens the pores preparing the skin for your favorite face oil, or facial cream to be applied. My mother taught me to apply sweet oils, such as apricot or almond, and depending on what result I am looking for I have added coconut oil, and vitamin e oil, and argan oil to my collection. It is always wise to test a small amount before using a lot of it. When allowing it to sit, I left it on until my face cooled nearly all the way, then splashed cool water to close the pores completely. My face feels supple and makeup seems to go on more smoothly, and for middle age this is a big boon!

but I have extremely sensitive skin so it felt like a volcano was erupting ghost pepper lifeblood onto me
I bought this when I started using retinol creams on my face. My dermatologist warned me that the cream was going to burn and itch, but I have extremely sensitive skin so it felt like a volcano was erupting ghost pepper lifeblood onto me. I would apply my soothing night cream, but to no avail- it literally kept me awake at bedtime it was so painful. I bought this and kept it in the fridge in a ziploc bag to avoid absorbing any smells and put it on my face over a damp washcloth right after applying my Tazorac cream. HOLY CATS, the cooling sensation helped a ton.I haven't used the mask hot, but I'd imagine it is just as wonderful that way. It held the cold very well and the shape was fine to see and speak through. I don't use the wraparound straps, I lay down flat in bed and drape it over my face.

Stiff, only a distant resemblance to facial contours. Halloween mask??????
This is very stiff. I bought it as a cooling device for stuffy sinus head pain. It is stiff & not pliable at all so one cannot adjust it to one's face. It just sits over your face touching the high points like the nose tip, checkbones & chin. There is no way I can get it to touch my eye areas or settle down on my forehead, my pain prone areas that need the cool. I bought it to be able to elevate my head (to lessen the pressure) while using a cool pack on my throbbing face & not have melting ice dripping down my neck. But no. I went back to ice cubes wrapped in a towel & another towel around my neck to catch the drips. At least that can adapt to facial contours. I put this thing in the Goodwill donation box. Maybe someone can use it as a late Halloween mask.
