A lovely story (mostly)
I really enjoyed this story. Two broken people met again and healed each other. As a fireman, he had rescued her from a terrible car crash where her legs were very badly damaged. In fact, it was predicted that she would never walk again. She was a fighter though. She pushed past her pain barriers, determined to walk, as well as to continue her brilliant academic studies. He was struggling with survivor's guilt.I gave the story four stars out of five because I worried about some very serious red flags in his behaviour. His cruelty to her twice was totally unacceptable, despite her understanding of where it was coming from.No-one should excuse such treatment, and girls reading this story should know where their boundaries are. Stories excusing such ill-treatment set them up for future abusive behaviour.

Fantastic read with all the feels!
I absolutely loved this quick read. While I'm not necessarily a fan of 'second chance romance,' I really wouldn't call this story a second chance since the two characters met under unique circumstances the first time around and it wasn't romantic but rather life-saving. I clicked on this book solely because of the unique premise about a firefighter saving the life of a woman in an accident and then they meet again by fate.I was not disappointed at all! The characters felt real, the story flowed in such a fast paced manner that I never got bored or wanted to skim at all. The story truly had all the feels and I was glad I went along for the ride as Hudson and Audrey reconnected and realized what mattered most in their lives. For anyone looking for a complete story with no cliffhanger, a satisfying ending, and several dirty dancing references, this book is highly recommended. I'll definitely be looking for more books by Kait Nolan!

Fantastic book.
I loved this book and devoured it in a day. Loved the chemistry between Hudson and Aubrey. He saved her years ago and now she’s able to thank him. But he’s not ready for a relationship, I cried for the reason why. They agree to a fling for while in camp. I wasn’t prepared to cry so hard at the heartbreak at one point. Loved being so emotional. Thankfully they get a very happy ever after and I absolutely loved the epilogue. I highly recommend this book.

great read as two souls meet again and save each other
SECOND CHANCE SUMMER IS a standalone read with a happy ending. This is a really good story. It held my attention from beginning to end. I couldn't wait to see what happened next. The story is about two tortured souls. Each one with a very tragic event they are trying to get over and get their lives back on track. First, the hero is a firefighter. He has lost two of his best friends in a fire, one saving his life. He is not doing well. He doesn't really want to move on without his friends and he suffers from survivor's guilt. His mother sends him to a summer camp for adults for two weeks. As a child he attended this summer camp and it was some of the happiest times of his childhood. The camp was bought by new owners and they rebuilt it to be a retreat for adults for individuals and as a company retreat. He didn't want to go but to humor his mother he agreed to spend the two weeks. His best friend is in ICU and he did not want to leave him. But to humor his mom he agreed to go.The heroine has spent the last two years recovering from a car wreck that almost ended her life. She was pulled from the wreckage by a firefighter that she never met but while they spent over an hour cutting her out of the car he stayed at her ear telling her stories to keep her alert and calm. she knew she would never forget his voice. She is at camp because it is on her bucket list. She almost lost her life and she has been spending the last two years in recovery. The doctors said she would never walk again but she pushed through and with some pain she is able to walk on her own.As a child she was in a master's program at college before she hit 20. A child genius she was always on the outside. Too young for her school group and too smart for her age group. Now that she has a new lease on life she plans to live it. One of the things she wanted to do was go to camp. She missed out as a child and she wants the experience. The two are at the same camp at the same time and when she hears his voice she knows it is her hero. She follows him outside and to the pier and introduces herself. he questions how she got to "his" camp and she tells him that he talked about it while helping her to remain calm and she knew she had to attend to get the experience he had. This starts their story. I loved the journey these two took to heal their souls. He had saved her and now she saves him. It is such a good read. It is the two of them working their way back to living. There is no bad guy or a crazy ex, no drugs, violence, mobs, etc. just two souls on a journey to self-discovery. A great read and I highly recommend it.I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 7/28/18

Living with extraordinary pain demands an extraordinary amount of positive choices
Both Audrey and Hudson carry enough painful baggage to fill an entire house. But it is the way each of them chooses to deal with the pain that becomes a wonderful story of hope, incredible love, and strength from someone who has learned the secret of surviving the awful pain. Audrey has had a terrible car accident two years ago and is saved by a fireman whose voice keeps her calm during the lengthy extraction of her body from her totally destroyed automobile. Her injuries are as bad as it gets. Having worked hard, she is determined to have a sumner adventure with her best friend, going to a sumner camp for adults because she has never had a sumner camp experience; she’s working through her list of things she wants to do, to experience, and to enjoy after enduring excruciating therapy to be able to walk again. Hudson’s friends and family have sent him off to the same camp to try to bring him back from the guilt he suffers from a terrible ordeal when he lost one life-long friend in a house fire mishap while he and another life-long friend were helping fight the fire. His other friend survived after saving Hudson’s life but is not doing well and has been in a coma ever since. Hudson blames himself for what has happened to his friends and needs to get rid of his guilt. Audrey and Hudson meet again at the camp, and both have the power to heal each other, if only they will take the chance. Audrey considers Hudson to be her hero, but Hudson does not see himself heroic in any way. Their story is well worth the read.
