Works fine after the ridiculous issues you might encounter
I bought this device only for the sole purpose of being able to hard wire devices that either don't have wifi built in or would run smoother with a hard wired connection. I've only owned this for about 3 days or so so I can't give to much insight on the stability or the potential compatibility issues. Setting this up was much more difficult than it needed to be, the manual they give you is ridiculous. I would hardly even call it a manual. The biggest problem that I am running into (which apparently others are as well from reading different threads) is the login page. The first time I set it up, it directed me to where it was supposed to go but now anytime I put in the url for the device I get some web advertised page. As of now, I can't log into the router to re-configure some settings that I'd like to. I did a reset which didn't help either. I would give this a 5 star rating if the firmware was more compatible and the setup was not such a pain. Updated review: I initially gave this a 3 star review, I have now changed it to 5 stars. I just did a google search for the manual which was very easy to find and downloaded that off the internet. The instructions were perfect, it made setting this up ten times easier than what comes with the package. I haven't tried all of the different modes yet, I've set it up as a repeater and then "client mode." With it on Repeater mode I used inSSIDer to check the differences in my network connection and I was surprisingly impressed. I think my dBm went down about -10. Then on Client Mode, you need to configure your routers DCHP and manually give the device an IP address (at least that's what worked for me.) I was able to test it on different outlets by plugging it into my Mac, PC, Xbox, a Toshiba Blue Ray player, my Raspberrypi, an XBMC box, and a Sony Blue ray player. All of them worked except the Sony, go figure. Overall I am happy with this purchase.

I love this little router!
This little router is awesome. If not perfect. I've used other portable router products in the past while traveling, each with its own various limitations... a reduced set of features compared to desktop devices, or only one Ethernet port, or having to carry a separate AC power adapter with it... but this one doesn't have any of those issues. The power supply is built-in, and it does everything you can think of to move network traffic between WiFi and Ethernet. And it has a built-in 1A USB charger that will even charge an iPad! It proved most useful during my most recent trip to Las Vegas. I was staying in a hotel that provide free WiFi for just one device per room, so I used this router in WISP mode as that one device. As far as the hotel was concerned, I was only connecting one device, but in reality every device I was carrying was connected -- several cell phones, tablets, and laptops were all connected to the TP-Link router and had Internet access without having to pay $15 per device per day. And in that mode the Ethernet ports were also connected to the Internet as well. Another scenario... while at a trade show I need to provide Internet access for two dozen computers. I plugged my Verizon LTE hotspot into the USB port to keep it charged, connected the TP-Link to the hotspot's WiFi using WISP mode. We ran an Ethernet cable from this device to a few switches, and all of the computers were online. It worked great. Other than figuring out a way to make it smaller, I can't think of anything that TP-Link could do to improve this product. It does everything, and seems to do it well. Every traveler ought to have one. EDIT: As one user noted in their review, configuring the router does require either a working Internet connection, or using an Ethernet cable. If the device can't connect to the Internet, for some reason connecting to the router via WiFi seems difficult, if not impossible.

DD-WRT
This is a great little router/ap. I wanted something I could use to travel out of country and connect to a VPN so I could use various streaming services from outside the US. I messed around in the stock firmware for about 30 minutes and much like I assumed it did not have the capabilities to connect to my home VPN or other various commercial VPNs. To accomplish this I ended up flashing DD-WRT on it which took all of 5 minutes, then I configured the openvpn client on it and was up and running in about half an hour on both the wireless and LAN ports. Hardware wise this is a very capable little router with 32MB RAM and 8MB Flash on the V1.0 (US) which lets it run a pretty robust version of DD-WRT. Now I have flashed DD-WRT on a couple other routers but I think this was one of the easiest ones to get up and running, the UI seems quite responsive so I think it has plenty of power. Like I said at the beginning I purchased this to use while traveling so since I will be using it in a Hotel room quite often I would actually prefer that it does not have a long range on the wireless side and the speeds will be more than sufficient to connect through a hotel wireless/ethernet. I have only had it running for about a day as of this time but I will update on the reliability as time goes on, but right now I have not had any issues.

Very good accessory to give internet access to a non-wireless device! At least, that is how I'm using it!

Great item. Works really well. I had to get someone in who knew what they was doing to set it up as I'm not very good with gadgets. Overall pleased with it

If your job has Internet on a computer, but no wifi for employees/guests, this is a rather sneaky solution for getting in on some free Internet. Two Ethernet ports means one from the wall to the router, and one from the router to the computer. Works flawlessly, no one using the computer ever noticed a difference, but I got to enjoy sweet, sweet wifi at work.

El aparato es pequeño y realiza muy bien sus funciones. No le pueden exigir más por qué es como pedirle a una navaja suiza que supla las funciones de una caja de herramientas.
