Great For Teaching
I use this timer in my classroom when I want to give students a specified amount of time to solve a set of problems or complete part of a lab. This has helped with classroom management and keeping students accountable for doing their work.I like that it doesn't make any sounds until it goes off - no annoying ticking. I also like that you don't have to turn it off - the alarm lasts for about 5 seconds, and then it stops. In theory, my students could use the visual timer aspect, but they don't seem to do so. Perhaps that element is more helpful with younger students; mine are in junior high. It helps me see how much time is left, however. I also like that it is not a 60 minute timer. I never assign a task that takes 60 minutes without breaking it into smaller pieces. This timer allows 5 minute increments to be clearly shown, and I even use it for 1-2 minute "turn and talk" activities. The only real complaint is that some of my students like to sneak up and turn on the timer so it goes off at random times. That's not really a problem of the timer however. And there is a volume knob on the back; if I set it to 0 when I'm not using the timer, these student pranks have no effect.

Perfect for students with special needs!
I was thrilled to have met the original creator of these Time Timer visual clocks this past November at the American Speech and Language Hearing Association convention in L.A. I have used the original 60 minute red timer since graduate school and found it to be extremely helpful when working with students with special needs, especially those on the Autism spectrum. I was able to get a glimpse of the newly designed visual timers in November at the convention and knew right away that the 20 minute timer would be a great addition for my practice. My sessions are often 20-25 minutes and the 60 minute timer tended to be a little overwhelming. I also like the 20 minute timer for quick 5 minute breaks that my students earn. The smaller timer means that it is a bit easier for the students to see time passing and the blue color is a lot more calming to look at then the red. The timer face is now covered with a piece of plastic for protection and my absolutely favorite feature is that there is now a volume control feature for our students who are sensitive to sounds. My only wish, and I did mention to the designer, is that the sound was not a "beep, beep, beep" noise. I wish it were a ding or something softer and less stressful. With all that being said, this is a MUST HAVE for special education classrooms! So versatile and effective!

The best gift for kids
For a toddler who is starting to understand the concept of time but can't understand a clock, this is golden. We don't argue about when it's time to clean up or how long a break is or .... or ... or etc.We agree on a time, they set the timer, and when the timer goes off they know it's time to move on to the next activity or the break is over. No arguments. No headaches. And, most importantly, you build trust if you adhere to the timer 'contract' with them.20 mins is about the right amount of time. Anything more than 10-15 mins is an eternity and unhelpful except for the rare task. As they get older the 20 min limit and their ability to understand increases then the 20 min limit will be more useful or you'll need to upgrade to higher limit timers. The handle and analog color dial are what set this apart from other units. Kids can easily transport this wherever they are playing. It takes a while to understand the counting of a clock, primarily because it's not based on 10s/100s and kids can't understand numbers that large anyways. The color dial is super easy for them to understand and quick glance lets you know about how much time is left.I would recommend this to anyone who has young kids 3-8.

We love it; wish it was louder
This is perfect because it slows our young children to visualize the time counting down. We use it for screen time. It is durable and easy to use.The only improvement I would recommend is a louder and longer “ring.” The ring is so quick that sometimes we miss it

I’ve been looking for something like this
I struggle with ADHD and I’ve tried many different timers from Amazon. I study using the Pomodoro method (25 minutes of work and then a 5 minute break as a reward). But I’ve had little luck trying to find a timer that would do this, and also have no distraction to me, and most importantly be silent because I do study in the library. But i never could. But this timer is AMAZING! It is silent, you cannot hear anything. And it’s very light, hey I can stick it in my coat pocket. And it’s the most user friendly timer I’ve ever owned. And it does not make any noise what’s so ever. So I highly recommend this timer. I’m in medical school and need to stay focused for 8 hours+ and a timer like this that I can bring anywhere, and also is silent but gives me visual cues… is exactly what I’ve been looking for, for years. So I recommend this. And trust me I have bought about 5 other different timers. This one is the best for studying!!

bigger than expected
The media could not be loaded. This is a larger timer than expected, but I was happily surprised. My son likes that it's big enough to see from across the room when he's playing. The alarm is quite loud and could probably be heard from any room in the house. We have the volume on the lowest setting in the video shared.

Defective design--easily breaks. Do not waste your money.
I should've listened to all of the negative reviews of this product. Despite handling the device with extreme care due to complaints of the lack of durability of this timer, it still broke in less than a month.Within 3 weeks of light usage, the timer started making random beeps in the middle of the countdown. Now yesterday, the wheel has stopped counting down completely. No amount of changing the battery nor pressing gently on the plastic lens covering the device (as recommended by the manufacturer) remedied this issue. This timer is way too overpriced to last less than a month. The only saving grace is that it broke a day before the Amazon return period was up.Buyer beware: the timer obviously has a defective design, leading to a lack of durability. Don't waste your money.
