Great Book
I am a new teacher and I purchased this to go kore in depth into analyzing test results and I am very happy that I did. I love that it included student work and talks you through how they came to a conclusion on a score.

Must have!
This book is an amazing resource that any literacy teacher should have in their professional development library. I read it cover to cover in two days and tabbed a lot of useful information. Jennifer gives you a lot of must have tools that you should be using in your daily instruction. She then teaches you how to analyze those tool in order to know where to bring your readers. This book has given me a clear plan for changes that I will be implementing into my classroom this upcoming year. I can't wait to get to know my readers better and be able to grow them from their strengths! Thank you for writing this amazing book!

A Must Have for ANY Literacy Educator
Absolutely a wonderful and easy to read practical plan for looking at assessment/ data collection. She's a great resource too. We communicated frequently on Twitter and was very helpful in guiding me through various steps with my classes and the group of teachers I led the book study with.

Nothing new here
There is literally nothing new in this book. For collecting data, using reading interest surveys, book logs and running reccords are not new or cutting edge. If you are currently using them or have ever used them, you know how to use it. Again, Servallo loves to quote her own work throughout the text and point to other resources that go more into depth into a topic. To call this a "playbook" is misleading. I'd only reccomend this book to brand new teachers. If you have ever taught reading, look for another book.

This book is wonderful for teachers looking to learn more about teaching literacy ...
This book is wonderful for teachers looking to learn more about teaching literacy skills in the upper elementary classroom. This was my second Jennifer Serravallo book, and it was a great follow up to my first, The Reading Strategies Book.

Like having professional development at your fingertips!
This book is an excellent guide for teachers to use to set clear, achievable literacy goals for and with students. Reading the book is like having Jennifer Serravallo as your personal coach as she teaches you how to analyze the data of one student, so that you can then replicate the process for your own students.
