I think these are GREAT shoes.
I could not destroy my 2 previous pairs of Merrell Moab hiking boots, after getting general, "normal" life out of them, abusing them further through harsh indoor/outdoor construction type work. I eventually had to throw them away because they either stunk too bad or the sole completely compressed such that replacement insoles don't suffice. I recently bought a new pair of Yokota 2 for general wear AND a pair of Moab 2 to put straight into service as work shoes. Weeks later a cabinet guy was at the house we are remodeling & he was wearing a pair, thought the same thing. If I come across some of their work shoes that I can try in person I might start using them for working.

Better than the new Moab 3's
I was sad when they brought out the Moab 2's, which did not seem to last as long as the Moab 1's, of which I still have a pair. I have a pair of the new Moab 3's, but I prefer the fit of the Moab 2's, so I bought a couple of pair which I will eventually break out. Regardless, the Merrell Moab's are my go-to shoes for the outdoors -- it's like they copied my foot to use as a model. Perfect fit, all the time.

My goto shoes for hiking and walking...
These are one of the rare model of shoes that never need breaking in. Straight out of the box they are comfortable. I do a LOT of hiking and walking -- pretty much every day getting in a minimum of five miles and sometimes more than 20 miles. I go through two pairs of these a year, so I've owned many of this same model.I used to try out different hiking shows all the time, trying to find the best fit, durability, support, etc. THIS is the one.Highly recommended!

I do love Merrell!!!
I love the fact that Merrell uses Vibram for their soles. It’s the only sole that has been able to withstand my tendency to wear out the heels unevenly, and quickly. This will be my third pair of Merrell- 1st was Vapor Glove which I still have some 10+ years later (although they are ready to retire); 2nd was flip flops (they are still hanging in there after 10+ years). I expect this new pair to outlast the previous pairs (I do plan on getting new Merrell barefoot shoes this spring along with new Merrell flip flops). Thing is, those old Merrell shoes are torn apart everywhere (I’m hard on shoes, really hard on them)- except the darn soles are good to go!!!

Great tread, tight fit, comfortable out of the box
I wear a 10.5 in Nike, Reebok athletic shoe which fit well. A 10.5 in these shoes fit tight in the toe box, my toe is close to the ends. I don’t know if wide width would help or not. But maybe these will stretch to fit, or a half size up would have been better. If my heels are locked in this size works. But I still don’t know if a size up would make it better or too loose.Out of the box these are very comfortable, and required little to no break in for my first hike in AZ desert. Tons of ankle cushion and the tread is excellent. Breathable and as a whole a great hiking shoe. Just take into account the sizing.

foot wonder
I have bad feet. Have lots of trouble with shoes. For me, these hit the mark. They have enough room in the toe box to not rub anything. And they have more toe protection than most shoes. The chassis mid shoe is adjustable enough to minimize movement. Sole is substantial, secure in walking, safe feeling. I've had these several months now. Deferred reviewing. I love 'em. They are more shoe than I expected (that's on me) so I was initially bummed at their weight. They benefit from break-in, but I liked their feel and fit right off. Unfortunately, I almost always track in mud with the grippy soles.1/24/23 Had a contractor come to my house today to bid a job. He was wearing these shoes. Said he works in them every day, which, for me, is another good recommendation.

A bit more 'bulky' than I usually like, but great for Michigan Winters...
Many years ago I bought a pair of Merrill shoes that I LOVED, and while they are really worn down, I still wear them when I just need to run out quick, or need something to throw on for a minute.I bought a new pair - the same style, but canvas upper instead of leather - which barely lasted a year... I was so disappointed!!!I was hesitant about ordering these, but needed a new pair of 'weather resistant' shoes for this winter - I live in Michigan, so they need to be warm, water resistant and have decent traction in icy conditions - so I decided to give them a try. Like I said in the headline, they are a bit more 'bulky' than I usually like to wear, but other than that I'm happy with them. Even through our 'Christmas week blizzard' last month, they did great - even when I had to go out and shovel my driveway! My only wish is that they had them in black and not just brown, but no complaints otherwise.

Saved my feet
Avid runner/hiker that had to give it up after being diagnosed with hallux limitus in both feet. After Googling around, I found a few lists of shoes best for this condition and saw this pair mentioned a couple of times. Bought 'em and wow do they help. They stabilize the entire toe area so that the bones aren't scraping against each other and have allowed me to go back on hikes. Definitely would purchase again.

Excellent shoes with design faults
When I first got these, i would have scored full marks. However, as a previous comment the laces are really stupid, they do not keep tied you have to double knot them which I think looks naff. The second design fault is that they are like walking on ice on some surfaces - anything metal, you could be up in the air. These two design faults are an inconvenience, but the comfort and fit is amazing - they are small fitting, i am 8.5, but a 9 fits perfectly. They are so comfortable you could walk miles.they look great tooI cant believe how Merrell - i'm a big fan can get the basics so wrong???

Lacks grip in the wet!
My first pair of Merrells. Seems like a nicely made shoe. Size 7 usually does me good but not with these; had to be 7.5.Not that comfortable straight out of the box for me, but very comfortable now after a month of use except on longer walks when my feet start to ache a little. Maybe they still need to soften a bit.I am disappointed about the lack of grip in the wet. Doesn't feel right at all for this kind of shoe that seems to have a highly regarded Vibram TC5+ sole. Its supposed to be "A high performance sole, providing non-slip qualities, high abrasion resistance and durability." Doesn't make sense. Definitely not non-slip in the wet. I've had much cheaper shoes with much better grip in the wet. Perhaps the toughness of the sole take precedence over being able to grip in the wet? Merrell have some work to do here....... in my view.

comfy but poor quality
Moabs have been my go for shoes for the last 15 years. The last 2 pairs however were "updated" model and the quality dropped to the floor. The previous pair developed cracks and holes in the rubber nose after few months of use. I gave it benefit of the doubt and got another pair which was not much better. The rubber used at the front starts to split and cracks. The upper also started to crack at the places where shoe bends after few months of light use around the town where I used to wear them on my mountains trips, and they refused to die

Was OK. Poor material quality and dismissive customer service
For men's shoe...Poor quality materials that eventually let you down. I've had 4 pairs of these shoes and the latest pair are stiffer and less comfortable than all previous pairs with less padding underfoot. All previous pairs suffered from fairly quick wear at the heel (on the inside). Customer service suggested it was because I wasn't undoing the laces. Err. Not a brilliant response. I was only asking them to improve the wear resistance as my 3 pairs had suffered the same. Newest pair hasn't done the same yet but mainly because I've hardly used them.Latest pair is slightly smaller fit..
