Sturdy & steady with versatile range. Highly recommended.
This tripod is high quality all the way. Although light-weight, there is nothing flimsy about this product. The yoke (gun rest) is made of a heavy duty plastic with a hard rubber inset to cushion the gun barrel and protect from scratches. The legs & most other parts are made from what seems to be aircraft grade aluminum. This quality construction makes the tripod wobble free. The feet are made of thick rubber for non-slip stability. With a twist to the left, the upper part of the legs extend over 18" (marked in 1" increments), and a twist to the right locks them in place. The lower part of the legs operate likewise and extend another 18". Combined with the upper body of the tripod, this gives you more height than you will ever need (unless you are 7 foot tall or better). This range of adjustment makes this tripod perfect for shooting from a kneeling, sitting, or standing position (tho' not usable for the prone position). For storage, the legs are kept in check with a handy velcro strap that is attached to one leg so it won't get lost. It comes with a lightweight cordura nylon storage sleeve (much like to ones used to store sleeping bags and small tents) that closes with a locking slide toggle. There is a roomy outer pocket that I find perfect for storing a pair of shooting glasses. The sleeve is finished off with an adjustable shoulder strap with a quick-release buckle.A great, well made product and a very reasonable price. Can't see that it won't last a lifetime.

Big Game Hunter Approved
Purchased this tripod for a gift to my father-in-law. He is a big game hunter (Wyoming, Montana, Africa) so I wanted to make sure the product would hold up to the abuse. The product is packaged in a black bag that looks like Cordura Nylon but it is not as sturdy, the bag might not last for years but it is a nice touch. I was purchasing a tripod, not a black bag so I could care less if it didn't even have one.The tripod is secured together with a semi-permanent velco strap, again a nice touch to keep it folded up. Some people mentioned it is "heavy" but I would say it feels just about right for the size, any lighter and it would not feel as sturdy. The top swivel piece is SOLID, but yet it rotates 360-degrees. There is NO wobble in it at all, very impressed. Each leg extends very smoothly, with gradient markings along with numbers on each leg, again very nice touch. Also, if you are 7-foot tall, this thing can go that high! One aspect I really appreciate about the tripod is when extending the legs out they seem to "stick" just a bit, but that is NOT the case. The seal between the small section inside the larger sections (telescoping) is tight (GOOD QUALITY) so it creates a bit of a suction effect extending the legs. They extend easily, but don't just drop down like a cheaply made tripod would. Also, the black coating looks rugged, foam grips are a nice touch...although not needed. If you are looking at the "other" tripods with the red grips, when are you even holding the tripod?? I'd rather be holding my gun. This tripod is an excellent value for the price, I would not spend any more on a different model, this one has everything you need in the field. I honestly don't know what the other tripods would have to offer except "bling" and red grips.

Quite useful and safisfactory
While the material and workmanship in a shooting tripod seems somewhat less than that of a camera tripod that runs about half the price, it is essential that the tripod be very stable. This one is plenty stable, and it is marked to discourage a person from overextending the legs, which would increase wobble. Also, the legs are all marked in the second segment so that uniform length is easy to achieve in that section, although the lowest segments are unmarked. The V top is strong, fits closely, and turns smoothly, so, together with the quality of being a stable support, I find this tripod to be a helpful accessory that takes most of the the strain and shake out of stand-up shooting.Although this is my first shooting tripod, I am not sure what a more expensive model could add to this one that would be a great improvement. Perhaps one feature is surer and faster adjustment clamps. The legs on this tripod use a hand twist to lock their lengths, and I have already had to fiddle with one leg a bit in order to get the clamp cam to catch. At this time, it seems okay, although I still sometimes have to twist for a while until a clamp will catch. I'm not sure how well any tripod could be set up when one has that brief moment of spotting an animal in the forest and needing to act efficiently, so it did not come into use during our recent hunting trip. However, in situations of having no great hurry, or waiting in a blind or behind cover for game to appear, it can no doubt be useful. Adjusting it ahead of time can make carrying it somewhat harder, but it then needs less time in setup.

Excellent all-purpose tripod
Great value, excellent construction quality, very well designed, rock solid, quick and easy adjustments, and relatively lightweight for a tripod its size. The yoke is also very simple and rugged, and rotates easily with no wiggle or play. It all seems very well made with quality materials. With the legs not extended and splayed all the way out, it's 23 1/2" to the top of the yoke. With the legs fully extended and moderately spread out so the feet are about 32" apart, it's 68" to the top of the yoke. I'm 5'10", and a level standing shooting height for me is about 62" to the top of the yoke--maybe a little more with heavy boots on. I imagine the maximum height of this tripod would be adequate for anyone up to 6'4" or so. I like the carry bag too, and it comes with an Allen wrench for the legs and yoke.

Good Tripod
The product arrived by USPS in two business days. Amazing speed! The Hammers tripod seems to work well and sufficiently sturdy. I like the light weight compared to BOG-PODs. I wish the legs can be a bit shorter in retracted position so that from crouching position the legs won't have to be spread so far out. The carrying bags is so flimsy that it won't last very long at all.
