Itchy scalp no more
This is great for itchy scalps. Works just as good as the named brands.

Only thing that works for my dry scalp
I have a very dry scalp and this is the only shampoo that works for me. I use this shampoo first, let it sit for a minute, and then I use another shampoo as the smell of this one is not great and it is more of a medicated shampoo so I do recommend shampooing twice with another shampoo. I use this once week, wash my hair twice a week on the average.

Good product
Works as well as T-Gel in my opinion but I have now gotten two bottles with defective caps. They do not work. They are the type that has the nozzle in the cap and to dispense you push one side of the cap and the dispenser appears but this dispenser does NOT WORK. Twice this happened and I had to use the cap from the previous bottle, having to dig it out of the trash covered with hair and dental floss. Please fix the cap!

Probably works even better than T-Gel
After T-Gel was discontinued I tried a few other things and nothing worked very well. I found this product and it costing 1/4th of what the price gouging of T-Gel is going for and decided to give it a try. Male, medium length hair. I found that after 5+ weeks of using it, the first few weeks every day to get back to normal and now just every other day or so it works as good as T-Gel or even better. No more buildup, flakes, and itches are minor if at all. I wash and rinse my hair with cool water and then use a cheesy grocery store brand conditioner and all is well. Some of the reviews here complained about the smell - "it smells like someone is tarring a roof". There is a little smell, no worse than T-Gel, and actually maybe not as bad. Once you rinse your hair, the smell goes away. I had the wife unit verify this. After a few days of shampooing with it you don't even notice the smell. I'll take 3 1/2 minutes of smell vs. an itchy scalp any day. As an experiment I have 1/2 bottle of T-Gel left and used it for a few days. Yep, it smells worse. Glad I found this, it fixed an annoying problem.

It REALLY works!..Really, Really!
57, partly gray and DONE with having a sandy, itchy scalp! I really hope this review helps you find your answer:I have tried so many methods and products to deal with the granules (like sand) that form on my scalp and cause itching. Expensive salon products, moisturizing my scalp, letting it air dry, baking soda, apple cider vinegar…NOTHING worked, until my new dermatologist told me to try alternating 1 shampoo with coal tar for 3 weeks with another shampoo with salicylic acid for 3 weeks.True+Real has coal tar and appears to be very similar to Neutrogena’s T-Gel, but T+R has a higher concentration of coal tar.I’m still in my first 3-week session with True+Real, washing every 2-3 days. Wow! What a difference! I used to start getting sandy buildup by the evening when I wash in the morning. By day 3, I was an itchy wreck, with oily hair to boot. Now, my hair stays clean and shiny for 3 days and I kinda, sorta start to feel a little itching by that time. I’m sure if I shampooed every other day, there’d be minimal symptoms.Dermatologist said to wash every day - that’s not gonna happen, but I do wash/rinse/repeat and let the shampoo sit on my hair for the 2nd application while I do other “shower things.” So far, so good!!I’m eager to see what happens when I switch to the salicylic acid shampoo starting this weekend.Tips:1. It does smell like monster truck tires, at first, but that scent dwindles at it dries. If you’re going somewhere and don’t want any trace of that scent, wash it the night before.2. Do make sure to do 2 shampoo cycles, letting the shampoo sit 3-4 minutes on your hair during one of them. My hair stays clean so much longer!!)3. BE CAREFUL not to get it in your eyes. It does sting, if you do, as packaging warns.

Not bad but didn’t produce the same results as T-Gel
I use this maybe 1-2 times a weeks and still have pretty bad outbreaks on my scalp. Nuetragena TGel was the best coal tar shampoo but sadly they don’t make it anymore. I will continue my search.I will say disregard reviews regarding the smell. It’s a coal tar shampoo, it’s not gonna smell like roses. If you have gotten to the point where you need to use something like coal tar for your psoriasis or breakouts, the smell is the last thing you should be worried about. Just hope you get some relief.
