Amazing product
I was unsure as to whether this would work but thought i would try them anyway. I was delighted to find that they work really well. It takes a few tries to work out how many to put into your plant pots as plants vary how much water they need. Got them for when i went on holiday and all my plants survived and were looking great on my return. Well worth the money

Something that actually works
Bought this as if it didn't work it wasn't going to break the bank. Surprisingly it works really well. At the moment I have quite a few tomato plants in buckets, and a lot of smaller ones in smaller pots, plus various other veggies in smaller pots. I filled a 40L trug with water and placed 7 of my buckets around it above the height of the buckets and followed the instructions. Good idea to tie weights (nuts, bolts etc) to the end of the wick going in the water so it sinks to the bottom. Then wet the wick, shove it in the plantpot and leave. I did the same with my other plants. As someone else said, it's a bit of trial and error. I found that 6mm was too thick for the smaller plants and the water was leaking out into the trays they were sat in but perfect for the plants in buckets. I have just ordered some more but in a 4mm diameter for the smaller plants. The good thing is that not only does it work to water my plants if I go away, but means that I don't have to water my plants every morning individually. I can just fill up the container every 3 or 4 days and leave them to water themselves.

A Revelation.
Been a gardener for many years and its a chore this time of the season, going round watering. Decided to look around as i thought , "this will be expensive" (have a large garden). Totally sceptical re wick cord. Too cheap, too easy, etc. - but it works. No wonder the big companies don't advertise it as there's no money to be earnt. Have been using platic milk containers but anything will do. Probably paint them as it'll be easier on the eye. Looking on U Tube there are many different techniques so will spend this summer on a trial /error adventure and find what best works for me.American company, wicking (cotton) sourced from China

Doesn't work unless it's very short
Really disappointed and I hoped this would work while I was on holiday.

Reusable
Bought this after reading the reviews, have not used yet but not complicated. Will be very handy when I go away and it's reusable which is a bonus.

This works
This wick cord helped to water both indoor and outdoor plants during the the middle 10 days in July. I expected to lose some of the plants but they all survived during one of the hottest and driest periods we have had. The outdoor plants which included tomato plants all survived. I have since ordered a further 150 feet.

Self watering system for outdoor plants 👍
The media could not be loaded. After a lot of research I decided to buy ORIMERC 150 feet 1/4 inch self watering cords. I needed something to take care of my vegetable plants and herbs while we were away for three weeks in the summer. I used several tips from other reviewers that I feel are imperative to ensure proper watering.1) weights that will keep cords submerged2) large enough buckets for water (depending on how long you plan to be away and how much water each plant will need3) wrap any exposed cord in Saran Wrap so the sun does not dry it outThis last tip I added myself which I feelIs essential.4) wrap a cord around the top of your bucket securing the wicking cord so the wind does not blow them away.As you can see from my pictures and video I bought HomeDepot buckets. After three weeks my plants were perfect! Happy as ever. A huge success!!! I suggest trying a few weeks before you travel so you can figure out how many cords you need in each plant, how much water your plants will need, etc…This product is AMAZING!!!! Works exactly as described!!!

Did not not work for outdoor water wicking
I’m sad that this did not work out. I tried several methods, and none of them work for me. I’m giving it four stars because I think the product itself is a good quality. I can see it working well for indoor use, or maybe outdoors or in a climate that is not so dry.

It really didn’t do much for my application.
I tried using the wicks to water my cannabis plants while I was on vacation for 4 days. I came home and my plants were droopy, they were only about a foot tall so I figured the wicks would work. Unfortunately when I felt the wicks they were dry. I had three wicks in each plant container coming out of a five gallon water bottle. I might have had it set up wrong so it could have been my fault. I think if you put the water container above the plants it might work.

Great for self-watering pots
I use 3.5-gallon pots for growing hot peppers and tomatoes. These are placed inside of 5 Gallon pots, giving a 1.5 Gallon water reservoir. These cords are inserted in the smaller pots and drop into the water reservoir, keeping the soil properly moistened. Simply fill up the reservoir twice per week and everybody is happy!
