Lucie Yi may actually be a romantic
Lucie Yi Is Not Romantic has the classic elements of a light-hearted romcom but also discusses a subject that many women may face. That subject is the ‘ticking time-bomb’ of being in your thirties, single and wanting to fulfil the dream of being a mother. Whilst not for everyone, MC Lucie has had enough of the corporate world and wants to start a family. This is where Lucie virtually meets Collin; the beautiful man who wants the same thing without the relationship. With a co-parenting agreement in place, Lucie soon becomes pregnant, and they head to Singapore to begin their journey. What could possibly go wrong?I would recommend this to anyone wanting a quick, easy read that will make you laugh but occasionally a little sad. There are some characters you will adore (Collin 🥰)and some that you will detest (here’s looking at you Mark)! I really loved the Singapore setting and learnt so much about cultural differences. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️#netgalley #gifted #earc #bookstagram #lucieyiisnotromantic #kindle #romcom

Loved this book!
I loved this book! Whilst tackling some heavy themes (like pregnancy loss & infidelity), the author’s humour and warmth really shine through and I really loved Lucie as the main character.

Challenging Taboos and Fun to Listen to
Lucie Yi decides to enter a co parenting arrangement in a very unconventional way. It’s a romance that challenges lots of different topics including; conceiving a child, co parenting/co parenting agreements, asian expectations/norms, and family dynamics.I found Lucie a likeable character until she moved to Singapore. I really started to question some of her decisions and the way she treated Colin.Overall I liked the book and the taboos that were challenged. It really gave some food for thought. However, it was rather heavy going and something you have to dedicate a lot of time to as you definitely couldn’t listen to it all in one go.I liked the narrator. I thought her voice was very soothing and it had a good pace.I received a free copy via Netgalley and all thoughts are my own.

Emotional, unconventional
An interesting story of a woman desperate for a baby and going down an unconventional route to get her goal. An emotional read, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Really fun!
Actual rating 3.5.Here’s a super cute, laugh-out-loud romcom which would make the perfect addition to your summer holiday!Lucie Yi is a successful, hardworking woman who knows her mind - and what she wants now is a baby. But having had a devastating breakup and no romantic interest since then, she decides to find a co-parent online who will help raise a child with her without any of the romantic stuff. Except of course when she actually meets and gets to know Collin, sparks fly. With a baby on the way, her ex Mark back in the picture and her family pressuring her to settle down properly, will Lucie take her usual sensible route, or follow her heart? So I can pretty much guarantee you’ll love Lucie - whilst she can be a bit type A sometimes, she’s also clearly got a heart of gold and she’s absolutely hilarious, especially when it comes to all those joyful pregnancy side effects (fanny farts anyone?! 😂). I loved how totally open and honest this novel was about pregnancy, and there were so many moments that I found myself guffawing (awkward as I mostly listened to this in the gym 🤣).Collin was also such a refreshing male lead - super hot but also kinda nerdy and deep. I love a good love triangle and the Mark angle definitely kept things interesting! I also just loved the setting of Singapore, and the food, OMG THE FOOD 🤤 Not to mention the cultural differences with Lucie’s family and their expectations of her, which really made me feel for her - I loved how fierce she was about having a baby however she needed to, although the ease with which she and Collin conceive might make some people roll their eyes. But hey, it’s meant to be a mostly light read so just enjoy the ride!

Crazy Rich Asians with contemporary pregnancy/fake marriage tropes
4.5 stars, actually.I really liked Last Tang Standing, so was happy to pick up this book which was billed as a kind of Austen/Crazy Rich Asians mash up. I agree with the Crazy Rich Asians part (there's all the high-level finance, Singapore multi cultural rich culture as there was in the movie and Last Tang Standing) but not so much with the Austen. It's more contemporary crazy romance tropes: pregnant/fake marriage than manners and restraint.Collin and Lucie both want children but haven't been successful in relationships. They meet on a parent app and suss each other out as potential co-parents with the understanding of NO ROMANCE at all so as to not mess up the parenting. Ya'll can guess how that goes.Meanwhile Lucie is navigating a high powered job, Singapore parents with certain cultural expectations, a friend in her awesome chatty friend group who isn't a parent and single and feeling left out, and an ex who was awful and now...keeps appearing again. Not to mention the pregnancy body changes :)This is fun for the food, Singapore, and kooky tropes, but as in her other book, I longed for a little more dwelling in the actual relationships than summarizing. Whenever Collin was making her food and bantering it was awesome, more of that ;)Also, Ho creates an entire, deep emotional background for Collin (and a little bit of showing Lucie's care) around a nut allergy. It's awesome and unique and full of puns.

okay
I went into this book thinking that I would absolutely love it but in the end not so much. As someone who really wants to be a mom someday but is getting older I thought the plot sounded so fun and interesting. I honestly was expecting this to be pretty low angst and while it wasn't super angsty I will say the conflict and angst came from a random love triangle and not the whole getting pregnant by a stranger then raising a child together. I was really enjoying this book up until the Lucie's ex becomes an active plotline, not only are love triangles not my jam but it was clear that he was a douchebag, and I could not understand why she was even entertaining him at all. Also there was sooooo much non communication between Lucie and Collin and that wasn't for me either. With all of that said, there were parts of the story that I did enjoy (the plot (far as the parenting match making) was fun, I really enjoyed seeing Lucie and Collin get to know each other and I love that they both had some growth not only in their relationship but also individually ) but ultimately it just wasn't a love for me.
