Yes, it is a metal product and it is sharp - will cut into a finger or two - you should be careful around kids. It is extra large for those juicy large apples and even candy apple! Best thing yet, can be used on other fruit too! Thanks for reading!

Q: Can I use this for pears as well ?

Never tried it, but seems logical. Perfect fit for apple cores. Pears, not so much.
