Saltwater Fishing Made Easy

The "Fishing Bible" for newbies or old salts! LOTS of useful, well organized info!
As a recent transplant to Florida Gulf Coast from the Great Lakes, I knew I needed to up my saltwater game and have found this book to be just what I wanted. It provides exceptional detail on EVERY aspect of saltwater fishing, without being patronizing or assuming that you know the details of every subject. Whether you are a beginner or old salt, I know you will learn something from this book. Who knew the importance of the fishing line's color? What type of line is nearly invisible to the "line shy" fish. What part of you line's set-up should be black to avoid fish from striking it? It breaks it all down,I especially appreciate the detailed description of each type of fish and ways to catch them (where they are found, what bait they are most likely to go after), as well as the full color section showing each fish in profile. When I buy my new rods and reels, I will be MUCH more confident in my choices and not come off as a newbie due to the info I have gained.I also appreciate the section on baits, especially artificial lures, since I plan to try those for the first time.I haven't had any question about any aspect of saltwater fishing that this book hasn't answered. Now, on to catch my first redfish!

Great for that person who wants to learn how to fish
I am trying to keep up with my husband who has fished all his life. This is wonderful and very helpful. We have more to converse about and it is nice that we are coming together to enjoy one of his favorite things to do. Also, looking forward to trying out some of the recipes.

Great Information...Good for old salts and new fishermen alike.
The information in this book is very complete. It assumes little knowledge of saltwater fishing and gives a great overview and how-to on many different types of fishing. If you are new into the world of saltwater fishing it is a great way to find out information on different types fishing in saltwater. If you are like me and are very versed in specific kids of fishing (surf fishing), it is a great way to open your eyes to new types of fishing in the same water.A couple issues I have with the book are: 1.Overly cautious (understandable for lawsuits I guess). Every part of this book elaborates on safety tips, which I deem sometimes too safe; Just my thought. 2. Not a lot of information on any one thing. While it does do a good job describing all the types of fishing, it fails to provide in-depth writing on any one topic. But, as this book is a general book in nature, I am ok with the writing it provides on the various topics.Thing I like are: 1. Species coverage. It covers many different types of saltwater game fish and multiple ways to fish them, where to fish them, and baits to use. 2. Color pictures of a lot if different species. This book is a must buy for any fan of saltwater fishing.

Very well thought out book to build your guidelines from.
This is a very thorough book. After reading it front to back, the progression of the book makes complete sense. It starts with some background, going into techniques/gear/etc, then finishes with details on each individual fish such as how and where to catch them. I enjoyed the information on tides and how they can effect your fishing. Being primarily a freshwater fisherman, learning about the tides was a whole other beast. I also appreciated how the writer often states that there is no one way to catch a fish, but these are merely good techniques to build off of. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Would have been nice to have information organized a bit better by region ...
Definitely a little basic, but decent information. Would have been nice to have information organized a bit better by region so that I could focus on the Southeast coast a bit easier. In general it was very easy to read.

Great transition from freshwater to saltwater fishing
I recently moved to Florida and this book p[provides a very good transition from freshwater to saltwater fishing. Easy to understand for the beginner but plenty of information and tips for the experienced sportsman as well. Good illustrations and comprehensive information on specific fish including habits, tips for catching, etc. Make this book a part of your saltwater library.

Good resource for a true beginner
This a great book. I purchased another one that was a waste of money. I just picked up the hobby of surfishing, which i know nothing about., well i am a girl. Anyway, this book talks about the tides and how it connects with the moon, the hours of tides in between, the science behind it. The type of fish, the equipment needed to fish for each type, size hooks, surfishing, boat fishing tips etc.

It also has a great section that breaks down what bait and life works ...
I really am enjoying this book. I grew up fishing but just casually. Now, that I have a boat, I needed more knowledge. This book was very helpful in guiding me toward the right fishing pole and line to use. It also has a great section that breaks down what bait and life works best for each species of fish. I learned a lot and I'm hoping that my fishing time will be better spent than it was in the past!
