An Author Unpublished Book Review
I adored this book. In fact, I very nearly gave it a perfect rating - but it wasn't perfect. I'll admit that I found the writing style a little juvenile at times, and it was sometimes hard to differentiate which of the two main characters, Tristan and Dylan, were leading the viewpoint as it switched off often. But the story itself - the plot, the characters, and the romance - was delicious. I loved Tristan and Dylan as a couple - despite their differences and the stressful situation the plot put them in, they were sweet together. Neither character was perfect, they had flaws: Tristan could be cold and downright cruel because of how jaded he was, and Dylan was often whiney and hot-headed… but I still loved them.Overall, this was a fantastic story, and if you like Young Adult romances, this is one I'd recommend picking up.

Page Turning YA Fantasy
Big thanks to Bookstagrammers.com and the publisher for the advanced copy of this book, as well as the final copy of this book. I was compensated for this review in exchange for the final copy of this book. My review is being given honestly and all opinions and thoughts are my own.CW: graphic descriptions of a train wreck (bodily harm), mentions of WWII, mentions of some of the horrors of WWII, talk of a n@zi soldierAs soon as i read the synopsis for this book I was SUPER intrigued! Like, I hope I get picked to do this campaign because this book sounds awesome, intrigued. I would also like to mention that it gives me some feelings of nostalgia in the way that it reminds me of books I used to read when I was younger. This is not to say that the book was bad or felt generic, this is just something I would have dived head first into as a young teen versus now, where I prefer adult contemporary romance. Let's also not forget that I LOVE PNR stuff, so this book hit all my buttons and is one of the first YA books I've been really excited to pick up in a while.I will admit that I feel I might have outgrown my taste for YA a bit, because, the FMC, Dylan, was very annoying to me at the beginning of the book. I will add that its most likely just because she's supposed to be an actual teenager and I'm, you know, not one. After the initial plot was set up we were finally introduced to our MMC, Tristan. I thought he was a pretty interesting character in that he was not only our MMC and love interest, he is also part of the mythology/world building that McFall created for this book. I think my only real critique concerning our MCs is the weird age thing going on between them. Like, Tristan is OLD ASF (like older than WWII) and Dylan is about 15/16 throughout the book. This kind of comes to a compromise with what happens at the end of the book BUT that doesn't erase the actual age gap thing going on. I also felt that there was some substance/foundation missing from their relationship development, as in I felt it was a bit sudden. Again, I am willing to admit that it's probably due to the fact that what I mostly read now is a lot different than this so I would say that it's more of a personal preference.Outside of my critiques I really was loving this book in its entirety. I thought the idea of the ferryman was well used and the author had their own unique take on it (ferryman from Greek mythology is what I'm thinking it's based on). I was honestly more intrigued by what was going on in the last 100 pages of the book, in terms of what both characters were doing that lead to how the book ended (wishing I could explain more but it would be spoiler after spoiler). The last 100 pages was a wild and romantic ride (actions taken) that had me at the edge of my seat an unable to put this book down till I got to the end where I wanted to SCREAM because I NEED more.It is safe to say that I will probably continue this series AND this will be made into a movie so I'm EXCITED to say the least.

Loved It
I don’t know what it was about this book that I enjoyed reading so much. And despite it handling themes such as the afterlife and loss, I didn’t think it came as heavy or extremely sad. Ferryman is a Greek mythology retelling based on Hades’ ferryman who carries souls to the newly deceased into the world of the dead. So when Dylan miraculously survives a train crash, she is confused by this random strange boy that she cannot help but follow. And when she learns the truth behind the tragic accident and this young man called Tristan, she resigns to the idea that she is on a journey that cannot be stopped.I really liked Dylan, she is a person that has been through a lot, suffered bullying, loved her mother but felt abandoned by her father. So when she managed to contact him and he immediately wanted her to visit, she jumped to the opportunity. Little did she know that that trip would be her last one. This story is full of what ifs and regrets, but also hope and about finding the right person in the most unlikely place and unfortunate time. Dylan’s and Tristan’s relationship was definitely unique and one that I seldom read about. I thought it was sweet and even though I didn’t know how it was going to work between them, I loved their interactions and the time they spent together. We also get to read about Tristan’s POV which I always enjoy when stories include more than one. We learn a bit about him and how upon the arrival of Dylan he starts to question his existence. One of the things that stood out for me about him the most was how much knowledge he had gathered throughout the years. I loved reading about his experience as a ferryman and it was interesting whenever he started sharing stories about the humans he helped cross to the afterlife.I’m so invested in this series, I didn’t know what could possibly come next as I was reaching the end of book one, but omg I was wrong! I’m hoping to get the sequel soon and continue reading it. So to any fans of fantasy mythology retellings, you might want to check this one out!!♥️

A Forbidden Love Story!
The book has a unique plot and I was pumped up to know how the story would work out. We did get to know Dylan and see her grow through out the book. What lacked was the character development of Tristan and relationship that Dylan and he shared. Though I liked his rude and angry man kind of character, I would have loved him if we would have got more dimensions in his character. The writing style was descriptive, pictorial and simply written. It was the unusual world building by the author that I personally loved. Overall, I enjoyed the narrative and will recommend it because of its incredible concept and writing style. If you enjoy reading forbidden love stories or paranormal romances, will definitely ask you to give it a try.

Couldn't put it down!!!!
THIS BOOK!!! THIS BOOK IS FIRE!!!! After reading the synopsis my interest was immediately peaked. I cannot tell you how much I loved this book, the characters, the setting, the pace, the story as a whole, like wow. I literally couldn't put the book down, I would start at 4pm and read till 11pm everyday. I was so connected to Dylan and Tristan's story that it made me sad to finish the first book, but so eager to begin the next one. So at the moment I am anxiously waiting for my second book to arrive in the mail. Claire McFall, YOU ARE A QUEEN!!

young adult fiction
The plot is based on a paranormal romance, and this book being young adult fiction I had a lot more expectations after reading the blurb. If you are into mythology and folklore this book would not disappoint you and you can definitely go for this book.
