Ivy & Bean buttons were cute & fun to make, "button maker" leaves something to be desired
This Ivy & Bean button maker churns out 15 small, but cute, buttons with illustrations that mirror the book series. My seven year old is a huge fan of the Ivy & Bean books, so she loved making these buttons. She cranked them all out in about a half hour, but had fun wearing and sharing them with her friends. There are enough materials to make 15 buttons that are about 1" in diameter. There are more than 15 pictures to choose from, so you get some leftover illustrations. The paper is quite thin, but once it's assembled in the button it doesn't really matter. The "button maker" is a somewhat crude piece of rubbery plastic - you lay down the plastic covering, picture, button backs- then smash it together with another somewhat crude piece of harder plastic. It works, but the buttons aren't very secure unless you REALLY smash the pieces together. Definitely nothing like the actual button presses I've used in the past, but for the price, I really can't complain.

Ivy & Bean Button Factory is a Hit
My daughter asked for this, and I had no idea what to expect. Well, despite the slightly cheap feel to the package and contents, this was a huge hit. After carefully making her buttons, she sold them to our family members for prices anywhere between $0.05 and $0.50, and turned a profit. So, she had some fun, and learned a bit about business at the same time.

Cute, but terrible quality
Cute, but totally impossible to use. Whatever the "tool" is that you press the buttons into doesn't really make the cellophane wrapper thing any tighter, so it ends up baggy/bunchy, and then it doesn't really crimp or fold the edges of the button over so the buttons fall apart really easily. And why don't they pre-cut the cellophane or at least mark it (print on it) so you know exactly how big to cut them out? We ended up using Saran wrap half the time.

Fun and creative!
We had a lot of fun making these buttons! It is easy to use, but children may need help actually pushing the plastic on. Comes with a good amount of blank circles to allow for creativity.

Eh.
This set is ok. My daughter enjoyed making the buttons, but the end product is kind of shoddy. A few fell apart, and we had a couple where the metal bent.

fun craft
My 6 year old really enjoyed making these. I just wish that they could have lasted longer. She made them all in about 20 minutes.

Four Stars
Works well but the buttons were smaller than I was hoping for.

great little craft kit
Fun little craft. We love the Ivy & Bean books and were excited to have something to go along with them. This would make a great birthday present for a 7 to 9 year old girl.

My daughter loved making these buttons
My daughter loved making these buttons. The problem is they don't stay together. The backs separate easily because the metal doesn't actually bend to enclose the back. For all her work, she can't actually attach the buttons to anything without losing the front. Very frustrating.

Ivy and Bean Button Factory
This is advertised as a "paperback" and is simply a box of tools to make buttons. I found this very misleading and was very disappointed when I opened the box to find that Ivy and Bean Button Factory there is no book to go with the $15.00 box of buttons! Ivy and Bean Button Factory
