At last smart powerstrips.
I have quite a few smart things, Meross, TP-link, Hue, Alexa etc. Main reason I went with Meross is they have powerstrips, there's never enough plug points, the app had good reviews too. I have 5 kasa plugs but they haven't done strips. I also have Hue but they don't do plugs etc. Arggghhh... I now have 3 Meross strips and 4 individual plugs. I've left a review for the plugs but I thought I'd do a strip review although it's probably similar. THere is one key point I'd like to make. You can control devices of different ecosystems together using the Alexa app. Saves opening each app or giving alexa lots of instructions to get everything done. When I say Alexa I'm home, she turns on two lamps, one on a Meross strip and the other TP-link plug. When I say Alexa good night she turns off the two lamps and if my TV and kitchen light (Hue bulbs) are on she'll also turn off them. Very easy to set up. So if you have bought into different systems you can control them with one instruction together, this is one of my favourite things about Alexa. Another benefit is if you buy more items from other brands you can just add them to the scene you already created whatever brand they are. App is very good and reliable, no issues. Well made, solid, no issues. You get power usage on individual plugs, you don't on the strips. I've set up google and IFTTT but not had reason to use them. THe LEDs aren't too bright, I can have this in the bedroom. It's been a real struggle to find a power strip that doesn't make my bedroom look like I've got Christmas decorations up. KASA is so bright I covered up the button with electrical tape. FYI WIth Alexa you need to run discover devices after you have set them up. You can ask "Alexa discover devices" or do it via app. You can only turn scenes on not off. For off you need another scene. You need items with mechanical on off switches, that stay in position on or off (like a light switch). Not the push in out or touch sensitive buttons. For example this won't work with my touch dimmer lamp or my air purifier which has a button you press in but the button then pops back, nor will it work with those flat touch sensitive buttons. It will work with my dehumidifier which turns on via a dial and my lamp that has a on off switch part way down the cable. The on part needs to stay in place. Some improvements I'd like: 1. You have auto off, ie your lamp's on but you're going out but you want it on for rest of evening but turn off in 3hrs. I'd like an auto on. I have this on KASA and it's useful occasionally. I know I can set it up, but for one offs it's quicker. 2. More scheduling options. I've just set up my propagator. I'd love and on/off auto. For example on for 2 hours off for 1 repeat between these hours. Instead I've got 14 on/offs to set up over 24 hours. 3. The device box on the main screen, this is an on/off switch for these plugs but not for the strips. The little pencil is the edit button. That could be a little bigger and also include a link to energy usage so one less click. 4. Once you've set up a schedule you can't add extra plugs, for example I set up switch 1, but then wanted to add what was plugged into switch 2 to that schedule. You can't, you can set it up with them both though.

Good, does what it's meant to
Pros Has 4 smart sockets that are easy to ßet up and operate/control. We're an Alexa home and it works fine with her. Also alongside Alexa we use IFTTT applet with also works well. Update Nov21 . So it turns out that the cons below are due to my service provider. Actually having this powerstrip has identified the issue with the WiFi at home. I can now see when the WiFi is searching as this is when the powerstrip turns on/off & off/on. So to sum up the cons below are not due to the powerstrip but due to the WiFi signal from the service provider being not what they claim. Cons Keeps randomly switching on then off. This is no good for switches like the TV as mid watching it turns off then on but that results in the TV being on standby. As return window was missed I use it for lamps and humidifier. Even when switches are turned off sometimes it will suddenly switchon the off. Lamp clicks then flashes on briefly, humidifier turns on lights up then reverts to stand by. Also when turning in humidifier with voice the switch turns it on then sets it into sleep mode. I'm unsure if this is the power strip or the humidifier. So after turning on by voice you then have to manually turn on by hand. This for me isn't an issue as the power strip has the plugs tidied away so Im just pressing the settings on the humidifier and it works fine for turning off. Overall it works and is good value but with the switching on-and-off, off-and-on it can be very annoying at the least. No good in a bedroom as lights and or clicking of devices would disturb your sleep. Ours is used in the backroom that is less often used. It drove me mad in the front room and nearly gave me a heart attack in the middle of a scary movie night. If using with things that don't need to be constantly on (like a fishtank heater with lights set up) then fine in a rarely used room as price is ok. If you actually want it for something like a fishtank setup you need to look somewhere else. Overall I wouldn't recommend unless using as I do now for printer,TV, cd player, in a lesser used room.

A fishkeeper's dream gadget
I bought this (like at least one other reviewer here) to use with my aquarium, so that I could set timers for the lights. It does this job really well. Through the app you can, reasonably easily, set multiple on/off times for each sockets and timers to turn them off after a set time if they are turned on manually. I no longer have to set up multiple plug in timers, programming the time (and correcting for daylight saving) on each individually. With this strip they all get the same clock, which corrects itself. I'm also saved the hassle of manually accessing the sockets, fiddling with timer buttons/dip switches and finding the space for the things. I no longer have to open the cabinet to turn the filter off for cleaning etc. I have had only one incident where I came home to find that the lights hadn't come on as set. I don't know what happened there, but it's worth bearing in mind that the strip is getting its instructions from your wifi - so if something happens to this connection it won't do what you wanted. I found setting the strip up very straightforward; you install the app, plug the strip in and follow instructions to connect it (registering for a Meross account if you don't already have one). You can then move the strip wherever you want, so long as it's within range of your wifi of course, and set your controls on the app. Having done that you can then control the strip via Google Home (voice control!) and IFTTT (If This Then That) can integrate it with other connected devices (turn things on when your doorbell rings etc.). I imagine Alexa would work just as well, but I don't use that. I do have a couple of small quibbles (hence the 4 star rating); - The strip only has one physical button, which turns all of the sockets on/off at once. You can only switch the individual sockets on/off through the app, meaning that you'll need a smart device handy to do this. - You need to use the app to set timers/routines, there's no web interface to allow you to do it from a browser. - The way that you have to program individual events on the app is a bit cumbersome to do in the first place and to look at thereafter. A simpler timeline style interface (check out something like Nest) would be more user friendly. - Personally I could have used a longer cable, it's a little short of the stated 6' (OK, I didn't mark them down for that) Overall I'm really happy with this, if you want to connect and control multiple devices that are close enough to share one power strip it's great value for money.

Works well
I bought the 6 plug 4 USB extension lead. I will describe below what I think and also how to set it up and link it to Amazon and some basic uses, though not all, because you don't get instructions... It arrived next day with prime. It has a good length lead, very sturdy lead too. Set up; Set up was quite easy but instructions were non existent, all that was in the box was a warranty slip (2 years) and a piece of paper yelling you to download the app, I even downloaded the PDF called " user guide" from within the app...it was just a PDF of the same piece of paper with nothing useful on it at all, so as there is really no information given I will outline the steps here if it might help someone; 1: make a note of your broadband password, you will need it. 2: Download the app from Apple or Google Play store, search for "MEROSS" 3: ensure location and Bluetooth are enabled on your phone ( just for the set up, you can turn those off after setup and it still works fine) 4: create an account in the app. 5: pick a socket near your broadband for the set up, you can move it later. 6: go to the Homescreen of the app by pressing the house symbol bottom left, and the press the plus sign (+) top right corner to add your new device and follow the instructions. important: this 6 plug extension lead is listed as "surge protector", and then scroll down to the model number which is written on the top left corner of the front of the box. Set up is simple, switch on the socket when the app tells you, agree to the temporary Internet connection with a weird name ( connects automatically when you say yes, and then drops it later when you add your broadband info, this is pretty standard, my Google, Amazon and other smart items all do the same), enter your broadband password when asked) wait for it to pair, and then give it a name. Using: If you want to use Alexa to control the socket, allow linking with Alexa when the meross app asks for it. Then go to your Alexa app and you should, if you have the 6 plug, see 8 new devices listed, the extension as a whole, the 6 individual sockets, and all the usbs as a single USB switch. You cannot control the usbs individually, it does say that in the item listing information, but you can control the plug sockets individually. Go back to the meross app, click on your now listed device, it brings up a control Menü for you to control in the app, click the three lines top right which gives a new page and at the top where it says " device name" and lists the name you give it, click the right-hand arrow.. This loads a new page and allows you to name each socket individually, by giving each an individual name you can use voice control on Alexa to turn each on and off without opening any apps. You can, once you have done this, groups some or all sockets into a group on Alexa, so instead of saying " Alexa turn on socket one, Alexa turn on socket two" etc, you can turn on 4 sockets for example ( or off) at once by saying, for example " Alexa turn off Hifi", if you named that group hifi Alexa will be able to control it. Timings: In the meross app or Alexa ( I haven't tried Google yet, even thought it gave me a button to click to link it, I went alphabetically so did Alexa and then when I went back to the meross app I couldn't find an option yet to link it to Google as well, it must be there somewhere though). So, in both the meross app and/ or Alexa you can set timings, For example if you want the radio to come on at 6 am, if you plug it into this extension lead, you can set timings. One is called sunrise/ sunset in the meross app and Alexa, and in Alexa you can also set it up any time you like. Say you go to bed and want to turn everything off, but you want your phone to charge between midnight and 4 am, a four hour charge, and then power off again, simply set that up in Alexa for that socket. It's all very clever, I am sure there are more features I haven't used yet, if anyone knows where the " link with Google" setting is in the app I would be grateful to know. One last thing, you can of course turn the sockets on and off as and when you choose through the meross app, and as long at you leave the Internet on and connected, you could turn everything on or off whilst you are away from home, like on holiday, as long as your phone connects to the Internet wherever you are, and at the same time back home the Internet is on, you can freak out the neighbors turning the lights on and off from Australia....not that you would do that, of course. I hope this waffle is helpful to some.

BRILLIANT! (see addendum) BUT ALEXA ISN'T!!
I have just installed my third Meross smart extension. In total, I use four of these devices. The first one that I bought was a TCP Smart strip, which is very good, but I like the Meross a whole level more. Construction is good: it has a mains cable that's up to the job, and it has a reasonably long cable. To fit mine to the walls, I use Amazon Brand - Eono Double Sided Sticky Foam Pads Adhesive Tape,20 pieces Black Foam Tape Strong Pad Mounting Adhesive,50mm*100mm. Copy and paste this, as it's without doubt the best adhesive pads that I have used, and believe me, I must have tried them all !! They are brilliant. My first Meross extension was simple to install. The app works very well. It picks up even a half-decent wifi signal, and the extension installs easily. Of course, if you have more than one extension, it finds subsequent ones quickly, and all you need to do is give each extension an individual name. You can individually rename each socket, and integration into Alexa is seamless. I have many routines in Alexa, and I can either programme each socket singly, or just programme the entire extension. You can programme each socket by timer as well. Setting up a timer routine is a wee bit of a chore, but once it's done, you can forget about it. You can programme the whole extension on a single timer, too. I think that using an extension is preferable to using four individual Smart plugs, as it looks neater. In my Conservatory, I have two Meross extensions and I have another one in the lounge. OK, so you can see them, but I think they look reasonably unobtrusive. Also, if you use the Amazon Eono tape, they can be removed from the wall by sliding a knife between the velcro fasteners (it's about the ONLY way you'll get them apart!). The price has just gone up by £5.00, but even so, the value is still good. ADDENDUM July 13th 2024. This morning all FIVE of my installed Meross Smart Strips strips decide to play up simultaneously. It just happened! I asked Alexa to turn on a device, and a totally different device turned on. All four outputs on one strip were randomly switching wrongly, eg I asked for the Passage light to turn on, and the dehumidifier turned on instead. I asked for the Echo power to turn on, and again, the dehumidifier turned on instead! I checked my other FOUR strips. Same result; randomly switching outputs. Of course, I wiped the data from all five strips and started again. Same result! I deleted the app and reinstalled. Same result. I deleted the Alexa app and reinstalled. Same result. I even used a brand-new boxed Meross strip with the same outcome. I noticed that my only other Smart strip was working normally, but that is a TCP Smart strip, not a Meross. Everything else was OK, so I emailed Meross. I have a ticket number, and Meross think that Alexa is the problem and they say that they have filed a complaint to Amazon. I will update this review when I have more information. July 16th 2024 In desperation, I decided to download Google Home and try the Meross strips to see if they would work with that assistant. THEY DO! What's more, they do it properly. I now firmly believe that ALEXA is the root cause of the problem, not Meross. They work with the Meross app: they work with Google Home, but Alexa sees each strip as ONE device, when it should sense a strip with FOUR devices. I also noticed that Alexa doesn't tell me it has found a Meross strip, which it used to, it now sees just another single input. NO WONDER it's only turning one output on! I've complained to Amazon, but I doubt if they'll acknowledge my complaint, or act upon it. All I can advise at this time is to use Google Home, not Alexa. July 20th 2024 Meross informed me that they have contacted Alexa support and that their support have fixed the problem and acknowledged that it is an Alexa issue. Meross have been great throughout, but Alexa support is woeful. I already knew that Meross had been in contact, as I managed to install my Meross smart strips through Alexa again yesterday. Full marks to Meross. Amazon support, however, must live in a different world to us mere mortals. This morning, I managed to get in touch with a REAL PERSON, who was as helpful as he could be, but was out of his depth with this type of problem. Phrases like "have you downloaded any Alexa updates?" or "How have you linked Meross to Alexa?" (etc) were the limit of this lad's knowledge It wasn't his fault, but, after having to replace FIVE Meross strips with an alternative brand, you can bet that I wasn't taking any prisoners. The replacements have cost me a fair bit of unnecessary expenditure. If you purchase Meross strips, and they are the best that I've used, then PLEASE be aware of this issue. It certainly isn't Meross's fault, but they will be the ones to have perfectly good strips returned to them if this fault recurs.

Effortless Smart Home Upgrade - Meross Smart Power Strip Rocks!
I'm seriously impressed with the Meross Smart Power Strip. It's made adding smart control to my devices an absolute breeze. Here's why I love it: Super Simple Setup: Honestly, it was ridiculously easy to connect to my Wi-Fi and get it working with Alexa. No complicated tech stuff, it just works! Rock-Solid Reliability: Since setting it up, I haven't had a single dropout or issue. It responds instantly to commands, whether it's through the app or voice control. Customization for the Win: I love that I can rename each outlet! No more remembering "outlet 3" is the lamp – it makes control so much easier. Home Assistant Heaven: If you're into Home Assistant like me, this integrates beautifully. It was a snap to set up and offers total control. Should you buy it? If you want an easy, reliable way to make your existing appliances or lights smart, this is a no-brainer. It's well-made, simple to use, and expands your smart home possibilities without breaking the bank. I'm definitely considering getting another one! Note: I happily give this product 5 stars. While I haven't had it long enough to comment on extreme long-term durability, its performance so far has been flawless.

Randomly turns off then on again several times a day - non-existent customer service
When these sockets work, they're great. They integrate well into HomeKit and Siri But several times a day, the two 6-way units turn off then straight back on again. This is a real pain, because some of the items I plug in take a while to start up when power is turned on, so the sockets are useless for my TV, smart speaker etc. Additionally, once a month or so the sockets stop responding to Siri or Home app commands. To get them working again, they have to be turned off and on again at the wall plug. What's the use of a smart plug that needs to be manually turned off and on again to get it working? And what's the use of a smart plug that randomly turns itself off and on again? I don't think it's a miraculous coincidence that both of mine do this. I think there's a design flaw - the only way to stop them randomly turning off and on is to completely block network access, which makes them lose all smart functionality. Somehow, the sockets are contacting a server somewhere that's telling them to reset. I've tried these sockets at friends' homes and they suffer the same problems, so it's not an issue with my own network. I have tried getting support with this issue but I've not had any proper response. These aren't cheap commodities - I expect decent service! I won't buy any more of these until I start to see people reporting that these problems have gone away And even though lots of people recommend them, I honestly can't. When they go wrong, they become pointless. It's pure luck that people aren't experiencing the random resets (or they're not noticing them due to the type of plugs they're connecting) Meross should treat its customers better. I don't have any hope of that though

Perfect
Easy to set up, no more bulky timers, this does it all in one app and does it better. Well worth it.
