This crazy expensive tape is the best. It will not leave a residue nor peel paint off the wall, but adheres perfectly to most surfaces. It's commonly called "Paper Tape" even though it's strong enough to hold things together securely.The flat black finish is great for hiding irregularities that end up in the camera's frame.We go through more of this tape than any other and always keep extra rolls handy on our Grip Trucks.

I don't use this as intended. This is my replacement for masking tape. It's very durable, hds strong but is easily removed. Seems to last for a long time too. It is a bit expensive for a masking tape replacement, but it's top notch quality. Being fabric based, gives this longer application life. It won't dry and get brittle.

Amateur alert: I got inspired during the quarantine to play around with photogrammetry 3d image software using modeling clay. I needed a way to black out a lot of things in my photos because my initial results were less than stellar. A quick search led me here and I took a chance. After using it for a few weeks now, I can definitively say I love this tape.I have a terrible history with tape. Shredding clear tape trying to grab at an invisible seam, throwing duct tape away that stuck to itself the second I looked away, weeping as the beautiful washi tape gently falls to the floor within seconds of application. You get the idea.Enter Shurtape: a black knight clad in whatever the complete opposite of shining armor is. Not tacky at all, black on both sides, and possibly sentient- it knows exactly what I want it to do. It's strong where I need it to be, rips where I want it to easily, comes off super easily, and most importantly, transformed my ultra-low budget, desk-sized, photography studio into a void so black that I'm shocked that I was able to escape it and write this review. All my models are now finished and they look great. I'm still not even sure if there was a more appropriate tape that the professionals use when they're in my situation but this one was absolutely perfect for me. I also love the texture/matte look it gives objects- if I were rich I'd use it as wallpaper.TLDR: It was a little pricey for me but I really can't recommend it enough. Excellent product.

The reason I bought it was so I could retape and seal the vents. I just got back from Annual Training and opened the tape to use it and it is made from paper. It will not seal up an envelope let alone the ducts in my AC.

I use this tape to seal the door for my darkroom, and no afternoon light, or any light gets through for that matter. It’s amazing

I’m a cinematographer and I use this paper tape specifically to create patterns on an empty frame and then use a 2k or higher light to light through to create shadows on the background of my image. This tape does not smoke up from the heat of the lighting equipment which is great!

Excellent flat black color and good adhesion. Black on the tape side also. Great for photo/production work and for blacking out light leaks when you don't want to use gaff.

Sure, this is matte black, but it’s still pretty reflective somehow. I can’t see how photographers use it, since it still is insufficient to prevent light reflection for my cameras. Complete failure; somehow, it’s just as reflective to my cameras as black duct tape, which has a very high shine.
