Exceptional Laser Engraver for an exceptional price!
I’ve been using the ORTUR Laser Master 2 S2 for a few weeks now, and I’m thoroughly impressed. The setup was straightforward, even for someone like me who’s relatively new to laser engraving. The 24V power system provides a noticeable boost in efficiency, and the LU2-2 laser module is precise and powerful. I’ve engraved designs on wood, leather, and acrylic, and the results are consistently sharp and detailed. The safety features, such as the flame detection and emergency stop, give me peace of mind while working on projects. The adjustable focus is a great touch, allowing me to switch between materials with ease. The build quality is solid, and the open-frame design provides plenty of room to work on larger pieces. For its price, this machine offers incredible value for both beginners and seasoned makers. If you’re looking for a reliable and versatile laser engraver, the ORTUR Laser Master 2 S2 is a fantastic choice at a fantastic price!

Worth it
Oh this thing is awesome and I don't regret getting the little LU2-2 head for it. Compared to my 5.5W the engraving is insanely good and it cuts quite well at 3mm, even cleaner with extra air. I swap my heads a bunch. With 5W I'm cutting 5mm electrical panel plywood cleanly without burning using air assist. Without it, the plywood is too toasty. Consider that when building, but in my tests a beefy fish tank pump or a DC motor airbrush compressor work great. You *will* need smoke evacuation and an enclosure at some point and short of big industrial filtration systems there simply is no way to filter such particles - without it you won't be able to safely or comfortably cut or engrave much of anything, it's not really optional. I installed a window vent system and ran duct to a blower on an enclosure I used the laser to cut. Consider fire suppression, like a simple kitchen flare up it's an easy thing to manage if you are ready for it. Don't do dumb things and do have something nearby for emergencies. I've got a fire blanket, retardant, extinguishers, and simple covers in arms reach so when I light something up the worst thing that might happen is damage to the laser. Air assist also helps mitigate that. What you get is a great laser head, adequate safety glasses for indirect glare, a well designed frame, and a stable ESP32 based controller with good stepper control and a frame that doesn't need a bunch of fiddling to get it set up. I think I could have done this in my sleep, FAR easier than a 3d printer is to set up and using GRBL is so much nicer than trying to emulate support in Marlin and hack your printer to do this, they just aren't appropriate. Lightburn is great software and offers trials, but LaserGRBL has come a long way too and you can get started using that, don't sweat the expense until you get the hang of using it a little. The cable management is handled by a split ring conduit that does act a bit like a reticulated chain but a proper axially constrained drag chain would be best in most cases. The cables are protected and managed and mostly won't drag on the work though. The accuracy is astounding for just being microswitch homed, synchro driven, and I did nothing special to tram it. I can repeatably hit the exact same spot with the laser every time. Protection features for leaving it on without movement and such worked great out of the box, I haven't modified the firmware or settings at all on the machine since I haven't needed to. The price of this machine was a little lower than the parts individually even, I was building my own but when I saw this deal I grabbed it and I totally don't regret it. You're gonna see people running these with no shield on, no enclosure, going all John Wayne with it. Please don't do that without taking the necessary precautions. If you have no pets, bystanders, ignitable material in proximity, and are 100% wearing safety equipment at all times then you're probably good but that's not simple and what if your glasses slip or? I've already had one accident, thankfully not serious, now it's in an enclosure with shielding and I mounted 2 cameras for remote monitoring of the bed and the head, they're cheap USB cameras nothing special but you can manually track them at the workstation or configure Lightburn to do the distortion correction for your lens and stuff and map the coordinates to the bed area like xTool does. If done right, it's very accurate for setting up jobs without moving the work piece or even getting up from the chair. It's a basic machine, but it's got a work area bigger than almost any small-medium sized laser and a ton of versatility thanks to being an open frame system. In some ways you can do a lot more with this than the fancier systems without wasting all that money on hype. My DC compressor runs circles around the $200 pumps and it cost $20 lol, it was just louder until I stuck it in a box with urethane foam baffles. It's all up to you as the machine operator and builder how far you want to take your upgrades based on your unique workflow. If you enjoy hacking on your machines or want to learn how to, you might be glad you didn't buy something more "easy" and less flexible. If you're new, read read read read read and consume every tutorial, the quality of the work you produce with any tool is directly proportional to your own mastery of the tools and techniques. Good luck.

DO NOT ORDER
I never write reviews and I often ignore the ones that say "DO NOT ORDER". I'm writing this one because several of my children went together to buy this unit for another sibling. We ended up moving and only got it set up after the move (big mistake). It didn't work. Wouldn't burn in all quadrants and then would stop and burn holes in the wood. Contacted support, only to receive an e-mail stating that the company was in flux and nobody knew who was handling support. Somebody did eventually write me and try to help. Turns out the unit was bad when it arrived (admitted by the company). They shipped me replacement parts, free of charge. They arrived and DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. In the meantime, they had closed my ticket, even though the issue wasn't resolved. I reached out again only to receive an e-mail stating that the support site on the Ortur website was no longer valid and they weren't sure who was handling support, but try "these two e-mail addresses". I wrote. Received no response. Wrote again and was told to go to Amazon and contact the seller who sold me the unit on Amazon because ortur.net couldn't help. Funny... the seller on Amazon was Ortur.net. When I try to get support, it sends me to the folks that are saying to go Amazon. Bottom line, my kids are out several hundred of their hard earned money because by the time they finished running me around and waiting on replacement parts, I couldn't send it back. IF you order this unit, check it and send back to amazon immediately if it doesn't work. Ortur currently has NO support and will only give you the run around. I've been working to resolve this issue since last November and it is now mid january with no resolution in sight. UPDATE: Ortur has now responded on here (Amazon) to contact them as they would like to help. This response is AFTER I’ve been writing them since last October (coming up on 5 months). They’ve told me three times after talking back and forth for two weeks to write to a different address after saying repeatedly they would help. I email the other address and receive NO response. The last email I received - again telling me to contact the email address that never receives a response - told me to “have a nice life”. I’m choosing to believe this is a language issue and not as rude as it sounds but they have still done nothing.

Laser stay's on. But now fixed
Purchased Ortur laser n Apr 14, 2021 received it on Apr 19th . Put together on the 20th ran several test project's no issue ,liked what I saw. than 2 day's later issue came up , the laser kept burning when going from one letter to the next , and kept burn during homing and when job completed . Had to hit the reset button to turn off so there would not be a fire , I really liked the laser , if there was a reason why it went bad I would keep it if fixed. Read something about grounding the laser but that was not in the assembly instruction . Update: contacted seller they sent replacement board and grounding kit . I installed and laser is working perfectly. They sent replacement fast

Great laser to start off with and a good price to match.
I purchased the 15W version of the Laser Master 2. It arrived with 2 day shipping. The packaging seemed to keep everything tight and secure. The instructions were clear enough to put it together in a reasonable timeframe. For me 45 minutes to an hour being meticulous and careful while also fighting off the cats as they performed their inspections on the product. The box came with a note that said I got a new version of the laser which had a fixed focus. It took me a minute to figure out how to align everything because I didn't notice the pictures near the end of the instructions. Basically there's a locking pin that allows you to adjust the height of the laser and a metal block that you place between the workpiece and the laser head. Twist the screw and that provides a perfect focus adjustment. I understand that some people might want an adjustable focus but for me that simplifies the process and removes user error when trying to dial in the laser beam. I purchased a better set of glasses for the laser after some reviews indicate how the glasses supplied are not that great but it's understandable that you're not getting a $40 pair of eye-pro with your $300 laser. I picked up the 15W instead of the 20W for the $60-$70 difference. Not much of a power difference in the laser and I figure this is my entry level laser. Eventually, if I want a more capable laser I'll upgrade to a CO2 model. I did some test engraving in some walnut and some plywood laying around. The garage became rather smokey, recommend some sort of ventilation or a respirator. Luckily I had one for painting with a sprayer and that seemed to work well. Overall, I would highly recommend this laser if you want something entry level, easy to set up, and easy to use.

Easy set up and seems quality built.
I just got it set up and haven't had an opportunity yo use it yet, but the set up was very simple and it seems to be good quality. The included instructions are quite vague but with the help of a YouTube video I had it assembled in 30 min, and it was preforming the initial start up operations. I'll give an update after I start a project! I love the accessory options and the brand is know for quality performance

Worth the money
I tried this laser engraver out because I did not want to purchase a extremely expensive CMC machine or something like that. Some of these engravers get into the thousands. after a slight learning curve I was able to produce some amazing pieces. The original thought was to use it to laser mark an image onto the wood so I didn't have to transfer it by hand. Then I would burn it by hand as if I drew the image on myself. Usually laser engravers don't give a whole lot of depth without cutting far into the wood. However, that was not the case with this. I still like the look of a handmade wood burning but this thing was able to produce some amazing pieces that I would even consider hanging in myself. My neighbor has an extremely expensive laser engraver that cost thousands. This little guy I'm willing to say matches if not beats the quality of his engraver. Every once in a while, but not very often the laser moving at the very start can get jammed up. As long as you don't walk away immediately as you're starting it you'll catch it in time before any damage is done to the wood. But I've made a huge amount of products with this so far and it's only happened to me less than a handful of times, three maybe four. I did not deduct a star for that because to be honest, there's a good chance it's user error. :) haha Without question if this thing ever breaks I will not hesitate to replace it with the same one again.
