Amazon Basics 100% Cotton Terry Cabana Stripe Pool & Beach Towel, Soft & Absorbent, Quick Drying, Large, 2-Pack, Green, 30" x 60"

Never thought I'd write a review for a towel but here I am. Finally, regular old school towels that are soft, actually dry you off, and they are not complete crap. They're a nice midweight, not so heavy that you don't want to pack them for the day but defintely not thin. I've not had lint issues with them and they've been washed many times. My teenager is a lifeguard at an indoor pool so they've been used a lot and are holding up well. The size and weight is perfect, big enough for an adult and easily packable for every day.

Bought these for our pool, and they’re fantastic! The fabric feels high-quality, dries quickly, and is super soft. Easy to use, comes in vibrant colors, and offers excellent value for the price. Perfect for pool or beach days!

Love these towels. I bought 4 blue stripe and 4 green stripe. The green is a little less vibrant green and is much softer color glad I ordered them also. Nice and big. Absorbancy I would say 8 out of 10.

I do my best to get to go to the beach one week a year, so I bought these for quite infrequent use, so please keep that in mind. In terms of appearance, I got the green and white. The green is a tad less vibrant than it appears in photos, but is still a beautiful shade. I saw that several people commented on the amount of lint they produce, so I added a pic of the lint I got after washing (just them in the washer, regular cycle, warm water) and drying (medium heat plus an extra 10 minutes to try to really get anything loose). I think it’s a very typical amount of lint to get off of two new towels. After washing and drying them, I see a few threads that are less than an inch in length, near the edges. I’ll trim those but none seem to be from the loops. You can see in my pic that the binding (or whatever is the right terms for the edging) is pitifully thin. You shouldn’t be able to see the color differences under it but you definitely can with these. It’s already looking a tad worn there so I can imagine they will be very frayed and the binding may come off after several uses/washes. To try to avoid that, I’m stitching it down preemptively. I won’t know until I go on my trip in a few months whether that suffices. If the towels turn out to be a huge waste of money, I’ll come back and update this. TL;DR- they’re attractive but don't seem super sturdy, so they’re good for occasional trips to the beach/pool but I wouldn’t expect longevity if you’ll be using them often. Update 2023: I’ve used these towels and washed and dried them about a dozen times. As I mentioned, I did add stitches to keep the edging in place before I used them the first time. So far, wear and tear is minor. If you’ll be using these on a daily basis, I’m not sure they’ll last very long, but for those of us without easy access to a pool/lake/ocean who just need them for maybe a week a year plus an occasional invite to someone’s pool, these are soft and absorbent and I still love the green stripes.

After reading so many mixed reviews, I decided to give this a try anyway. For the most part, it appears the darker the color, the more problems there seemed to be, but not with all situations reviewed, so it may still be worth a try... I don't know. I needed inexpensive soft towels in large quantities. I purchased the color Yellow for the summer season. There were some loose threads that need to be snipped off here and there, but overall, a decent set of towels. Next, I placed them in the wash as directed to get the "factory" factor out (fuzz and whatnot), used fabric softner, setting washer on cold/cold. Then, placed in dryer (warm) with dryer sheets. These once flat, crisp feeling, standard looking towels came out of the dryer looking so fresh, fluffy and clean. Lent left behind was incredible, but nothing on the towels. They fluffed up 2x it's original appearance when purchased. My expectations were exceeded. Upon use, they were pretty standard. They are towels and do what towels do; these absorb moisure pretty well. These are not extremely fluffy, which is fine, as these tend to dry rather quickly in the sun. Purchased a few sets of these inexpensive towels for guests, and got several compliments. They are quite nice, honestly. I guess it's all relative upon what your preference is for a beach/poolside towel: soft, thick, thin, airy... I am glad I gave these towels a chance. The quality is decent, and the value is great for what you get! Hopefully, the darker color I'll purchase soon will keep me just as pleased. Happy summer, everyone!

I used the Amazon Basics 100% Cotton Terry Cabana Stripe Pool & Beach Towels at a recent poolside event I planned, and they were a huge hit! Perfect size for swimming. Great feel and color

Update: it took about 10-15 washes for these to stop shedding lint. They are nice towels now but having to wash them so many times just to stop the shedding was inconvenient and I likely used enough water, electricity and gas that I may as well have bought more expensive towels. They are nice now that they don’t shed lint everywhere but that was about a month of washing….can’t say I recommend them. Original review: I bought these towels not expecting a ton of quality but I did expect them to be decent. They arrived and they are plush and very nice. I was impressed. I have washed them several times and after my shower I always apply lotion. When I’m applying lotion the lint these towels leave behind is incredibly apparent. I can feel the bits of lint roll of in my lotion. As I’ve said I’ve already washed them several times prior to using them but they continue to shed. Eventually I’m assuming they have to stop shedding. But we are not there yet even after several washes. If you do not apply lotion after using these you may not notice the lint they leave behind. I usually don’t feel it until I’ve applied my lotion. It’s a shame since they are otherwise plush and feel very nice to dry off. The green cabana stripe is nice looking and I enjoy the towels overall. The lint is a minor annoyance and one that I believe will eventually stop. But as of right now even after several washes I’m still feeling that lint. I got them on sale and they were not expensive. I think they are worth the price IF the shedding eventually stops. I will update if they are still shedding after 15 washes or so. I keep expecting each time that they will be done shedding. The shedding seems to be slowing which leads me to believe it will eventually stop. Overall if you want a decent towel for a decent price it is probably worth it to deal with the stray lint all over as long as they eventually stop shedding. I’m a bit disappointed in this aspect of the towels….but to be fair I did choose an inexpensive towel and I can’t expect Egyptian cotton in a terry weave for this price. Will update if they don’t stop shedding. If you don’t apply lotion after using these you may not even notice the lint too much. They are so soft that I’m describing them as “plush” so they are decent towels especially for this price. Just beware that they are a bit linty. I took off two stars for the lint because I don’t necessarily feel clean after drying off when it’s leaving behind cotton lint all over my body….
