NOTICE: The disk has English audio and subtitles. Review: Great stuff - I was slightly sceptical that the new cut of "Daredevil" would actually be a big improvement on the theatrical version, but I was pleasantly surprised. This is great stuff, and probably the best of the "Marvel Heroes" features, certainly the most adult. Here is a sense of the real character, a sense of pain and loss and tragedy. There is unbelievable action, and brilliant acting. Ben Afleck is fine as the emotionally tortured Matt Murdoch, as is Jennifer Garner as Elektra. The characters of Bullsey and the Kingpin are well played, and are credible bad guys, while David Keith as Matt's father gives a brief but impressive performance as Battlin' Murdoch. A new subplot has been added, and the emphasis taken away from the love story element, which provides more drama for the central theme of the troubled vigilante's crusade against crime as a lawyer by day and masked hero by moonlight. All that said: why oh why wasn't this version released at the cinemas. It is bravura action film-making, but it also reveals the darker side of the character. Recommended. Review: So underrated. - This movie was so underrated for it's time. I watched it today 18/11/21 and it's still a darn good movie. Action was fun to watch, a little dull in the romance field but no complaints, Colin played a great Bullseye and Michael Clarke Duncan ( RIP ) played a flawless King Pin what we see of him. The movie needed a little more to be one of the greats, Ben played DD flawlessly i thought, and i know a lot of people would probably disagree with me on that, it's all good. I would have liked to see Ben play DD again later on, he went from strength to strength but like Ryan, he was ashamed of this role like Ryan was in Green Lantern ( which i enjoyed too, maybe i'm easily pleased ) Ah well, i'll be collecting this movie, unwrapped and sealed like all my collection, still a great movie and i recommend it to all interested in a fun and great old time action film :)

Thank you for the Director's Cut
As a teenager I grew up watching the Daredevil movie and reading the comics. He's still my favourite Marvel character. I loved the original daredevil film then, but have to admit as I look back; it was pretty poor. So when I read a few reviews for the Director's Cut I got curious. The film is considerably longer, and considerably better! There is so much more detail in there that gives more depth to the characters and to the story line. A lot more attention is paid to Matt as a lawyer and this ties into the storyline brilliantly. I'd say it actually makes the film! There is more comic book content, especially references to the Frank Miller version. Comic fans will love it. Why the church setting...the film answers it. The Electra/Daredevil relationship...the film improves it. The legal partnership relationship...the film strengthens it. Much better dialogue. Every character in the film is given more time and therefore the film portrays their character more intimately. As Ben Affleck admitted, the theatrical version sucked badly and I can only urge anyone who was disappointed with the original PLEASE watch the Directors Cut and I'm sure you'll love it.

Such an unfairly underrated film, and this version is even better.
I always thought this movie was unfairly criticised. I love the gritti'ness to it, the soundtrack is fantastic, and i thought Ben Affleck played the character really well. This directors cut (they call it cut, but don't be fooled by that, it's significantly longer) is even better. Like i say, it has a significantly longervrun time, and the movie really benefits from it, fleshing out both the story and the lawyer side of Matt Murdock so much better. This is well worth getting.

Underrated
This film was unfairly criticised. While this is not exactly a great movie, its nowhere near as bad as people make out. There are many good things going for this and they are cinematography, costumes and dialogue. Some of the dialogue is actually pretty good and way more memorable than other movies which are overrated. The cinematography gives the movie tons of atmosphere. The action, not exactly great but again, its not that bad. Seeing daredevil leap over rooftops, using his grappling hooks etc were nice. Jennifer garner does very well in her role as ELEKTRA (whihc her spin off movie was very underrated too. Will make a separate review of that). Her acting is very good and shes a very likeable character. Heroism oozes out of her. Ben himself does a good enough job as DAREDEVIL and his acting is decent. Some movies are singled out by the horrible critics and media to be a flop. Even if that movie is actually pretty good, these nasty critics will purposely convince themselves they are seeing a crap movie. Vice versa, some movies are singled out to be major hits, so even if that movie is actually crap, these critics will convince themselves they are seeing a good movie. Dont listen to the stupid critics. see this for yourself and judge.

Better than the theatrical version.
Such a huge noughties gem for any Marvel fan of viewer of the 2015-18 Netflix series. Here’s to hoping that "Born Again" lives up to the Daredevil mythos. *UPDATE* So it appears that the disc was bit scratched during which it jumped a bit during the origin story half and a scene featuring Matt Murdock and Foggy Nelson. Still it was enjoyable and had a fun subplot featuring the late Coolio as a man wrongly accused of murder. 😊

Finally
I loved the movie when it was realised, but I admit it hasn't aged well. A few years ago I purchased the directors cut digitally after reading nothing but good reviews and it was so much better. The Directors Cut definatly makes this a film worth watching. Unfortunately google removed the directors cut from their uk libary which mean the version I purchased was downgraded to the normal one. It has take me a few years but so glad I finally found a physical copy of this film. The case of this suggests its a German release, but having tested I can confirm the language and text on the blue Ray is in English.
