Exactly as described works well

Really reduces our sulphur odor from our well water. Lasts several months and doesn’t drop pressure. We generally replace when the sulphur smells starts returning.

When we moved into the house, I had a plumber install a water softener in the garage and a RO filter at the kitchen sink. Before everything, he installed the canister for this Big Blue filter. Our Phoenix suburb city water isn't bad, but we do have high content of dissolved solids and minerals because a blend of our water comes all the way from the Colorado river and everything it picks up along the way. I have to say that using this as a pre-filter has help eliminate any problems with the water softener mechanism and resin. When I do the ritual slight drain of the electric hot water tank, there is no sediment and the tank hasn't leaked so far after 16 years. The RO system filters and membrane have long life. As the number of people under roof have declined as empty nesters, I now change the filter about every 18 months. Simple to change, although my technique involves using two of the custom wrenches -- one pull and one to push to get the spinning started. I also keep the threads and seal properly lubricated. I have found that this same Pentek numbered carbon filter as originally came in the housing remains the one we need.

Perfect fit for my PennOlax Big Blue filter. Will buy again when it's time to change.

Had Been paying the company that we got our water filter from and they charged us twice as much and had not been cleaning tank out like it should. Husband had easy job of installing and was able to clean tank out like it should be
