Nippon Kodo Deitanseki Soap 5.3oz

I don't leave many reviews, even though I have an unhealthy addiction to Amazon.This soap however earned a review, and I had to share my results so others who are considering buying it will take the leap. I have been using this soap for over 3 years now and a bar typically lasts about 8-10 months (my husband uses it also.)I have very sensitive combination skin that is prone to hormonal breakouts and this soap cleanses gently and completely without causing any issues (it's even greatly reduced any hormonal acne breakouts to almost nothing!) It's all I use on my face, followed by real aloe to moisturize. It's also done wonders for my husbands oily skin and adult acne.When you get a fresh bar it has a mild woodsy scent (almost pine with a hint of juniper) but it's not overpowering and does fade with use. It also doesn't leave a noticeable lingering odor once rinsed off so even if the scent isn't your cup of tea it's not the end of the world.

This is a great soap, and for the price, it is complete steal! I have combination skin, which is prone to dullness. I use it at night, as part of my nighttime skincare routine, and my skin feels great ever since I started using it. I think it gives a very deep clean, and gets rid of most impurities that collect on your skin through the day. It does smell a little herbal-y, and might not be appreciated by everyone, but I quite enjoy the unusual scent. It also does not dry out my skin as such, and I get a nice, clean feeling on my face after using it. My skin looks noticeably clear, and brighter ever since I started using this, about two months ago. I also think this will last a loooonggg time, since you only need one swipe each time, for the amount of lather it builds with adequate water. I'm so glad I tried this soap, and I have been recommending it to my friends ever since.

I love this soap because it helps clear up my skin and is the easiest thing to use. I also still have a ton of soap left, so it's not bad for the price at all.My order came in fine. I remember being surprised by how much powder came out when I opened the packaged soap bar and the smell was really strong, but once you wet this thing you're good to go.This soap is great! Extremely long-lasting and effective. I don't care much for beauty products and try to be as low-maintenance as possible for my own sake. Washing with this stuff is quick and easy, and leaves me feeling really clean without having to scrub my face raw. My routine includes a quick wash while I shower and/or before I sleep.As others have noted, this soap can be a little drying, so I wouldn't recommend leaving this in for a long time. However, since I started using this soap, my face has been less oily during the day, so I find that it's actually kinder to my skin than other facial skin products.

I'm not sure why but I was just expecting more from this product. Nice soap. Lightly cleans, doesn't dry out your skin but doesn't leave it oily either. It has a strange smell. Like your clothes might smell the next day after going to a bonfire. My wife was dissapointed with my smell after washing with my new soap. I was expecting a smell like art class clay and an aquarium filter but it's more like a day old wet campfire.It is a bit larger than a normal soap bar. Add about an inch to a regular bar.UPDATE: I discovered this soap's true potential. It makes an EXCELLENT shave soap. It lathers great and the hinoki oil in it makes for a smooth razor glide. Because of the way it rinses, it's superb for shaving, it leaves the skin feeling normal, not oily, not dry, not stretched, not squeaky, just....normal. I cut off a chunk and put it in my soap dish, it lasts forever.

I'm a 20 yr old female who is in college and I have tried almost every single face wash out there! I finally stumbled upon this and decided to try it. Thank goodness I did! I have extremely dry skin that is prone to breakouts and I had large, very noticeable pores on my nose. Since I started using this three months ago I've had great skin!!! My routine is to wash my face at night by using a small chunk of the soap, rubbing it into a lather on a washcloth and moving in a circular motion for about thirty seconds. I then moisturize with my favorite face cream of all time- Jergens All-Purpose Face Cream!!!!  Jergens All-Purpose Face Cream - 15 oz  The soap removes all the dead skin and impurities while the face cream (because it has mineral oil and beeswax and some other stuff) heavily moisturizes. I shower in the morning and just run warm water over my face and pat dry with no washing or exfoliating involved. This is extremely effective combo of products and extremely economical. I love it! Note: use a sharp knife when cutting the bar into about three or four pieces and you may lose some small bits but its perfectly okay I'm still on my first little piece after three months! Also my boyfriend who has a little bit of rosacea on his cheeks just lathers this up in the shower and washes and this works very well for him too!

I love this soap - it's exactly the right product for my combination skin - it balances my oily face zones yet doesn't dry out - since using I've had almost zero breakouts, and no dry patches at all for me it far surpasses every expensive face wash that I have ever tried. The scent is fresh, tart and earthy yet not lingering. Some might find the smell 'medicinal' but I find it really doesn't linger on your skin at all. Japanese products are well-known for their mild scents and quality effectiveness, and this is no exception. The 5.3 oz is a good sized bar, I cut it into 3rds to only use what I need so it easily lasts 2 months. If you have combination skin problems I recommend giving this product a try.

Will last forever with the size of product and how little is needed to use. Love this product
