[An Erasure of Shakespeare's Son] NETS
Jen Bervin's NETS handles erasure differently from other texts written by the same (or a similar) process. In erasing Shakespeare's sonnets--not all of the sonnets are contained in the finish text of NETS--Bervin leaves so very few words on each page so as to produce elegant, striking vignettes, snapshots of images or ideas. The compiled result is a little surreal, but very rewarding.I used this text in a class I taught on found poetry, and thought it to be a perfect example of erasure. Highly recommend.

I got a signed copy which was super cool. It had a coffee stain on it but that was the toss-up. "stain for a โsigned copy." But I didn't care about either. This is an interesting book.

Conceptual Poetry: Great Place to Start
Jen Bervin is a stunning artist. For most of her projects she takes something that exists and simply adds glitter to it. Nets is unique for the reader who thought Shakespeare would never be a "must read." Nets takes an old world text that the average person has lost interest in and sprinkles it with shiny bits, making it interesting again.

It's hard to think of a more successful book of erasure poems than this one. It's a masterpiece of the procedure and a thing of beauty.
