Clean Simple Ingredients
Great minimal ingredient wet food supplement on top of, or in addition, the kibble. Chicken, duck, water for processing, and agar agar. Can't get more simple and clean than this! My little dog prefers this flavor combo. My cat prefers the Beef for dogs enhancer (beef, water, agar agar). And that's perfectly OK, since they are interchangeable igredients.

Excellent Ingredients BUT!
Human grade is extremely important, considering how some of the ingredients from popular pet food companies is pure garbage, toxic garbage. My 2 didn’t really like this, I know it was not complete & balanced. I mixed in their favorite food topper, and goats milk which makes it complete & balanced. I believe the problem is the packaging tetra packs. They aren’t as airtight as cans. The food was discolored a sign of air getting in. Also tetra packs are only good for 4-6 months. So this is a no from us. Another food that I give to the yard critters.

My cat loved it!
I had an older cat who had lost weight and was very finicky about eating. I served this by itself and also mixed it with the same flavor of regular cat food and he totally enjoyed it!

Cats won't eat it.
I bought some of this from the pet store to try before ordering. My cats loved it. Ordered this and they won't touch it and the color is off.

OMG My Cat Went NUTS Over These
We learned a long time back that if you make your own cat food, not only will you save money, but you will save on vet bills and have a very healthy cat if done correctly. Although we make food based upon the recommendations of the feline-nutrition dot org resource, sometimes we run out of food that we made and need to pinch hit until we can make some more. That is where these come in.HOW THESE COMEThis comes in boxes which are sealed. They come in a case of 12 boxes.HOW TO SERVEYou tear the top of the box off and then the food is inside. You scoop out what you want, fold the box shut and put in the refrigerator until you need more.TEXTUREThis food is very smooshy texture and it is well ground. Cats with a hard time chewing should be able to eat this.QUALITYWow, this stuff tastes good enough for US to eat! It really is nice smelling. You can tell there are not any meals included in this (another term for the ground up remains added to most animal food).DOES OUR CAT LIKE IT?Our cat loves this. She went NUTS over it. Usually she is a chicken girl, but once in a while will eat some fish. This, however made her beg for it until the box was gone.HOW MANY MEALS?We add a bit of fish oil, taurine powder, and nutritional powder to this and use it as a meal. We got 3 meals out of our first box and the 2nd one we got four out of. That is twice a day feeding, so we got about 2 days out of a box.THE BOTTOM LINEIf you want to feed your cat natural foods, this is a great choice. Our cat loves it. When used with some added nutrients, we make a meal out of it.MY RATINGFIVE STARS. This is great to have on hand for this winter. One never knows what will be available at the stores in terms of food to make for our cat, so having this as a backup is a fantastic option. I know I would buy it again.

Cats seriously wolfed down
We've given our cats Honest Kitchen pet products before, but still we were surprised at how dang fast they finished off a bowl of this food topper. The boxes are large enough to split either between several meals over three days (the max time you can keep after opening) or as part of a full meal between several cats (which we did between our six). Even our picky pants female ate the small spoonful we set in front of her, and she is a ride-or-die Rachel Ray ONLY cat food picky eating kind of cat. She's never eaten any other brand of cat food before - ever - even if it was comprised of the same ingredients. Maybe it's a texture thing this time around, as unlike other limited ingredient fish-based cat foods, this one is not flakey. The fish is finely ground up and the texture really reminded me of couscous that has too much water. Guessing that is due to the agar agar?? Whatever reason, she ate the portion we gave her the first night this arrived, and then again the next two nights. This is a great thing because her vet has said she needs to gain weight for her health (removed and rescued from a horrific abuse situation by prior owner, poor baby.) and this topper has encouraged her to eat more of her favorite foods as well when mixed with those. That alone is enough for us to buy this product! At $2.99 a box (with the sale price for a case of 12 being $35.88 at time of this review), the cost per box is more than the 5oz cans of moist food for some of brands that we feed our cats. The boxes are a tad bit bigger than those cans, but our cats very rarely will finish off their portion of a can completely like they did with this food so a bit always ends up going in the trash. This option from Honest Kitchen doesn't have the added vitamins and minerals that typical cat foods have, but those also can have additives like wheat or soy that cats don't need. It's not like fish is a bad source of food for cats when they are obligate carnivores. It's good to get the extra protein into their diet (as it should be) by using this as an apparently very tasty treat.
