Limited white vinyl LP pressing. 2019 album from the rock icons. Korn vocalist Jonathan Davis elaborated on the LP: "Deep, within our Earth lives an extraordinary force. Very few are aware of the magnitude and significance of this place where good/evil, dark/light, bliss/torment, loss/gain and hope/despair all exist as one- pulling at us every moment of our lives. It's not something we can choose to navigate, but rather an awareness of this 'presence' that surrounds us with every breath, as if we are being watched at every moment. It's the place where black and white energies attach themselves to our souls, and shape our emotion, choices, perspective and ultimately our very existence. There is a miraculous and small realm within this vortex and it's the only place where balance between these dynamic and polarizing forces exists-where the soul finds it's refuge. Welcome to... The Nothing." Produced by Grammy Award-winner Nick Raskulinecz, The Nothing follows the band's acclaimed 2016 LP, The Serenity Of Suffering, which debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200, #1 on both the Top Rock Albums and Hard Rock Albums charts, #3 on the Current Albums chart. Review: After 4 listens to this album, I must say that Korn have outdone themselves with this one! I have followed them since the 90s up to serenity of suffering (which I also enjoyed) but wow, the emotional depth and intensity on this album is breathtaking. Jonathan Davis suffered a horrible tragedy that fueled this album and you can feel it in his lyrics and delivery. The band just gets tighter and more amazing on every album since they reunited on The Paradigm Shift but this album is very much an atmospheric, theme oriented album. The sound is reminiscent of albums like Issues, Follow the Leader, and Life is Peachy but the band still continue to evolve their sound and there are electronics but not used overwhelmingly. Jonathan Davis’ vocals can range from melodic, gentle/melancholic, to full on death metal growl/screaming. The songwriting is incredible too; the guitars are amazing, fieldy is at his A game on bass and the drums are always spot on in every song. Every song on here is great, I can’t think of any filler songs; even the shorter ones are intense and extremely well crafted. I don’t understand the low ratings, this may not be the Korn of the 90’s but I don’t want a clone of those albums; this actually for me is just as good as the older albums because this really came from the heart and not only that but it is just mind-blowingly amazing (favorites from this one are Cold, Idiosyncrasy, This Loss, Hardcore, You’ll Never Find Me and Finally Free). If you are new to Korn, I have no doubt you’ll enjoy this but start at something like issues (my personal favorite) or their debut if you want to get a sense of who the band are. If you are a long time fan, this is a no brainer, definitely get this album! It is up there with their best, highly recommended! Review: Sounds ace, looks ace on white vinyl, korn's welcome return worth the wait
