Well now, let me tell y’all a little story ‘bout my dear friend—let’s call her Miss Jolene (names changed to protect the hormone-afflicted). I do declare, that woman was fixin’ to break up with her man faster than a cat on a hot tin roof. The texts were comin’ in hot, and the emotions were swingin’ wider than a porch swing in a thunderstorm. Now me? I’m a good friend. The kind who shows up with snacks, tissues, and the emotional equivalent of chicken soup. So I went and bought her these adorable Positive Affirmation Cards. Figured if her man was headed to the curb, she might as well be reminded every day that she is a queen, a gem, and God’s gift to this side of the Mason-Dixon line. Well wouldn't you know—it wasn’t heartbreak after all. Turns out the poor darling was just in the middle of what I like to call a “midlife monsoon”—hormones, menopause, moon phase, who knows. But long story short, the breakup was cancelled, the boyfriend stayed, and these sweet little cards became her daily gospel. Now every morning she sends me a photo of the card she pulled, like it’s her own personal fortune teller in floral cardstock. Sometimes it says, “You are worthy.” Sometimes it says, “You are enough.” Sometimes—between the lines—it whispers, “Maybe don’t leave a man over a hot flash and an overcooked casserole.” Darlin’, these cards are pretty, sturdy, and sweeter than pecan pie at a church potluck. Whether you’re nursin’ a broken heart or just tryin’ to survive estrogen’s last hurrah, they’ll lift your spirits higher than a beehive hairdo on prom night.

These have been such a nice part of my mornings. The stand is simple but cute and the cards are thick and good quality. The affirmations don’t feel cheesy which I really like. I just flip one over in the morning and it gives me something positive to carry with me through the day.

These cards are meant for weekly use, but I personally draw one card each month. I intentionally recite each card twice daily, seven times per session, to ensure that by the end of the month, I can write reflections on the back of the card about how I used the affirmation. This helps me improve my life and foster personal growth. I must say, each card has positively impacted my inner life and self-awareness, clarifying what I want and don’t want without guilt. I continue to stay grateful throughout my Joyful Journal process, ending each session with Amen, Bismillah, Ase🌸
