It worked great as a replacement for the silver Apple Remote. Also worked great as a replacement for the black one. Way less expensive than an apple replacement. I put the batteries in and it worked right away.

Things to know, it looks like metal, but is completely plastic. It turns on our Samsung smart TV but can’t control it, so we still have to use our Samsung controller to go to the correct source to use our Apple TV. Once the Apple TV is on, it works perfectly for that. I personally feel like the Apple TV is no longer needed now that there is an app for it, but my husband prefers it, so I purchased this so that he can use it as he likes to. Old habits die hard??? Lol

The demise of my apple remote was a coffee spill, so I was on the hunt for a replacement & had the apple remote in my cart. About to press purchase I started thinking; the voice command button never worked (I had 2) so why am I spending the extra money when I could get a basic remote? So I searched basic apple universal remotes and this one came up. Yes, it’s basic but it works really well, I can change channels with ease, edit menu items & it matches my tv remote (I have to keep that one for volume and powering on the tv). As long as you need a basic apple remote go for it!

So far it works great! Way better than the track pad remote that comes with the apple TV. I will say if you are browsing movies it's quicker to use the track pad remote, but when you are actually watching a show and simply scrubbing forward thru commercials this remote is WAY better. With the track pad remote I always ended up skipping way ahead into the episode, or I would accidentally touch the remote and it would shoot to the end of the episode or something like that. This remote also turns my tv on and off, my track pad remote only turns off the apple tv device, then turn my tv on and off manually.

I am a klutz and dropped our Apple TV remote in my bowl of soup. How this happens is as much a mystery to me as it is do you reading this, no doubt. We didn't want to pay the 60 plus dollars to get a true apple remote replacement so we wanted to find one off Amazon. This one had great reviews and was a great price but at what cost? There is no on and off button, you turn it on by pressing the menu button and then the only way we've been able to find out how to turn it off is to go into the settings on the Apple TV and navigate to the sleep function. Needless to say this is less than ideal. Additionally, it does not have sound function so we have to go up to the TV and adjust the sound every time which is a pain in the butt. I didn't expect to have these features but I do miss the trackpad and the voice search which both of these things this remote does not have. If you're looking for something just to make it accessible this probably will work for you but if you're looking for an actual remote that you can use that functions closer to how the Apple remote or a normal remote would function this will probably not work for you. We are returning as soon as we can find a better alternative.

It’s fine. It is compatible with my Apple TV which is what I needed when my old one broke. It’s lighter weight and cheaper feeling. I do have to point it directly at the box vs my original remote that was more sensitive.

This is a great remote if you need one and don’t mind that it doesn’t have volume control. I find I have to replace my controllers because I drop them a lot. This controller has taken a major beating. So much so that I bought a second one just to have in case the other one actually dies.

Ordered for my kids, who’ve already broken 2 replacement Apple remotes. These SAVED us. Durable, takes AA batteries, easy to use and less likely to lose it because it’s bigger than typical Apple TV remote. You’ll need to use your phone to clear out all the background apps because this remote will not allow that action for some reason. But other than that, Golden!

Not as original and poorly used You need to be very close to the router for it to work After a while it doesn't work at all I don't recommend it at all

I absolutely recommend this remote. It’s brilliant and easy to pair to Apple TV. I was so impressed with how quickly it arrived.
