TetraPond Bio-Active Pressure Filter, For Ponds Up to 4000 Gallons

I have had one of these filters for around 8 years so I just purchased another one because I feel it could be at its end of its life.It is super easy to maintain and keep the pond clean. I love the backwash feature, but after turning off the pump, we take the hose put of the water else the backwash (as you turn it on and off) will dump tons of dirt into the pond. So just take the hose out and do the backwash on and off a few times until you see is coming clean at both ends.Also, we normally wash the whole filter probably every 8 weeks. We made a gigant container (a square with 4x2s) with hardware wire as the floor of that container. We dump the lite white pieces that filter the dirt and hose them really well.Maks the job super easy.My only concern is the hoses coming into the filter and out back to the pond, I feel they could become lose. I am trying to find connectors that are securely attached the hoses to the in and outlets.The filter last longer if it is covered from direct sun too.I have the pump also from Tetra and both of them work great together.Very pleased. My 7 koi fish are all happy and healthy.

I do not like leaving a post like this. They discontinued this unit, They do not have any parts. The clip holders broke on the sides. If you need a new gasket for the lid the cost is $40 if you can find one.Tetra a well known company should be ashamed of themselves. I recommend not to purchase this item.

This is the third one that I have purchased in 12 years. They work well and I am only giving it a 3-star rating is because I think that for the price that they should last longer. It seems that there is one return tube in the backflush operation that is too flimsy and has been the cause of the breakdown in each one I have had. Ufortunately this piece does not seem to be available for repair. I advise any new user to backflush at least every other week.

Unit installed a week ago, simple installation. Replaced older filter that was failing. Water looks good for first week. Will update if any issues in future. Purchased bigger unit even though pond is only 1,000 gal., hoping oversized filter will help with larger amount of fish and aquatic plant waste.

I love these filters. I have one hooked up in my basement to a 500 gallon aquaponics system it easily processes the ammonia and nitrite in to nitrate for my plants i currently have 100 3" tilapia and my water tests are zero ammonia zero nitrite. And my nitrate test tells me add plants or remove them. This filter is awesome worth its wait in gold!
